An officially licensed brand of pasta has been announced, in the shape of the iconic PlayStation triangle, circle, cross, and square.

They might not have announced any major new games in a frustratingly long while, but Sony has revealed a new licensed product this week: PlayStation Pasta.

Rather than just being alphabet spaghetti but with different symbols it’s a bit more upmarket than that, and doesn’t come in a tin.

Instead, Sony has teamed up with Pasta Garofalo to sell 500g of dried pasta in the shape of the PlayStation square, circle, triangle, and cross (and yes, it is officially a cross).

If calling it the cross button offends you (and we’re not saying that’s an unreasonable point of view) then you can always take that out and pretend it’s actually a homage to Nintendo character Kamek, who always showers the screen with the same symbols when casting a spell.

According to Pasta Garofalo, ‘Pasta is a game you play together’. We’re not sure that really makes much sense but then the official website is filled with lots of patronising talk implying games are only for children.

‘The gap between cooking champion parents – and video-game loving kids – can be overcome in the kitchen where the spirit of collaboration reigns supreme. So the Play Your Pasta campaign unites everyone, parents and children, gamers and food lovers, because pasta is a game to be played together!,’ reads the official blurb.

You can buy a pack now from Ocado for just £2.60, although we don’t see any sign of it being available anywhere else.
