Coleen Nolan has clarified facing a cancer scare, after revealing earlier this week she had a ‘shocking experience’.

On Monday’s Loose Women, the presenter, 58, revealed that she found a ‘tiny bit of skin’ on her shoulder that caused concern.

While it wasn’t disappearing, it ‘wasn’t bothering’ her, but she was told it was a basal cell carcinoma when she got it checked at a dermatologist for a different issue.

She said on the programme: ‘It was so shocking that my first instinct, typical me, was to laugh hysterically.

‘I just thought that was the most ridiculous thing. I’m sick of cancer.’

Coleen treated the bit of skin on her shoulder, which she described as a little red, with chemotherapy cream, before alerting the doctor to skin on her nose, which he revealed was a melanoma, a form of skin cancer that can spread.

Since addressing her health issues, Coleen has been showered in support for raising awareness, but she’s since cleared up the ‘diagnosis’.

Thanking fans for their wishes and support, she said on Tuesday’s Loose Women, sat alongside Brenda Edwards and Charlene White: ‘It’s not really a diagnosis.’

She went on to explain: ‘It was carcinoma, which is gone, and then the melanoma on my face is something that works like pre-cancer, if I don’t sort it then much later on in life it will turn to skin cancer.

‘But I was trying to highlight the importance of if you’ve got anything you’re worried about then go and get it checked, which is what I did and found it.’

Co-star Charlene then revealed Coleen’s health scare encouraged Charlene to chase her own health appointment after having some skin on her leg checked.

‘I needed someone to remind me how important that is,’ Charlene said.

Coleen replied: ‘Yeah because the thing is you feel silly going with something that’s not hurting you, there’s no pain, it’s not making you ill, and you think, you don’t want to waste anyone’s time, it probably is a bit of eczema.

‘But if you don’t know what it is, you just need them to say it’s fine or it’s not.’

Coleen’s sister, Bernie Nolan, died of cancer in 2013 at the age of 52, while in March this year, Linda Nolan, 64, revealed that her cancer had spread to her brain.

In 2022, Anna Nolan revealed that she was in the all-clear from cancer for the second time.

Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV.
