Susanna Reid had a heartfelt moment with Suki Thompson while presenting Good Morning Britain.

Suki, 55, has melanoma – a type of skin cancer and told viewers that she may have just days to live.

Appearing on the ITV show with her daughter Jaz, Suki was trying to raise awareness and encourage people to wear SPF.

During the interview, Susanna, 52, and Suki also discussed their close friendship and thanked each other for being in their lives.

‘Suki, what is so remarkable about you is your resilience, your endless and inspiring positivity. You are described as human sunshine. It’s been a privilege knowing you, being friends with you,’ Susanna shared.

The host then looked down at the desk and seemed to take a moment to compose herself.

She then continued: ‘Lorraine described you as brave, bold and beautiful. What’s incredible is you are using these precious moments to spread a really important message. You don’t want other people to put themselves at risk.’

Suki echoed Susanna’s sentiments and told her it was wonderful to have shared time together.

‘It’s a gift to be with my daughter today, and to chat with you and the viewers,’ she added.

She also recalled her last meeting with Susanna which took place over coffee, and revealed that was the final day she was able to walk.

Suki, who has been diagnosed with cancer four times over the last 15 years, also used her appearance to spread an important message – to protect your skin and go to the doctor if you’re worried.

The Macmillan Cancer Support and owner of wellness company Let’s Reset shared positive stories of people getting in touch to let her know she was the reason they got moles checked, which led to early treatment.

The touching exchange and inspirational words made viewers emotional.

‘Watching @Sukithompson @susannareid100 on @GMB & in absolute floods,’ one person wrote. They also added that her messaging had sunk in.

‘I am going to Spain next week & even as a nurse, I am terrible at wearing suncream. Suki’s message this morning has ensured that I WILL protect myself on holiday. Thank you and all my love to you & family.’

Another person described themself as ‘balling’ and the general consensus was that Suki was an inspiration.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.
