I’m a cleaning whizz – why you should NEVER put your swimsuits in the washing machine, they’ll be ruined in minutes

A CLEANING whizz has explained why you should never chuck your swimwear in the washing machine – and other items you’re better off washing with hands.

When it comes doing laundry, it’s tempting to throw everything in the washing machine – but according to one pro, Caroline, some garments, such as your bikini, can come out ruined.

To make sure you don’t have to fork out for a new wardrobe, the whizz took to TikTok where she listed the five items that are better washed with hands.

Sharing her tips, Caroline, from New York, the US, said that memory pillows can ”easily disintegrate in a wash”.

What about swimsuits after a holiday or a long day on the beach?

Well, Caroline advised to best wash them in warm water with your hands, as the washing cycles in the appliance could prove too harsh on the material.

She said: ”Hand wash instead, so they don’t lose elasticity.”

The same, the whizz noted, applies for ties – because they’re made of delicate fabric, you’re better off spot-treating them with warm, soapy water.

Another item that does not belong in a washing machine, Caroline told her followers on the platform, are throw blankets.

”They might lose softness in the wash, so always check the tag first,” she said in the video.

Your favourite trainers are looking a bit worn? Washing machine might seem like a quick and effective way to transform them.

But Caroline warned that the leather accents can easily come off, so instead, grab a toothbrush and treat the footwear with warm, soapy water.

Viewers on social media raced to comments, where some were divided.

One, for instance, said: ”I always put my swimsuits in washer and nothing happens.”

Another added: ”I’m always putting my memory foam pillows into the machine. It just slips my mind.”

”Always bringing the knowledge,” someone else thanked.

”Toothpaste is fantastic at getting scuff marks of white leather & vinyl shoes,” a fourth chimed in.
