Fashion fans totally mortified after a popular 2008 shoe hits the store shelves again – and some say they’re triggered

A STYLE trend that was popular in 2008 has left fashionistas triggered after making a comeback and hitting the stores again.

If you were all about being stylish babe in 2008, then you’ll remember the obsession with ballet shoes – despite the sole offering virtually no support to our feet, we’d rock them no matter what.

Come rain or thunder, heat or sunshine, the flats, completed with a teeny bow at the front, had us all in a chokehold.

But if you only have just about managed to recover from them – and give your toes the support they need – it’s bad news, as the footwear has hit the fashion world again, over a decade later.

One of those to have spotted the shoes in the stores was style enthusiast Ellen, believed to be from the US.

Horrified by the discovery, the shopper took to TikTok where she informed fellow fashionistas about the trend.

”These stinky shoes are back,” she Ellen wrote in the clip.

Whilst browsing around a store, the customer stumbled across a wide range of ballet shoes that were available in multiples colours.

Style lovers could walk home with either lilac flats, red ones, a neon green pair and bright pink – the perfect choice for those heading to see the Barbie movie.

Mortified, she added: ”Suddenly its 2008 again and I’m in Payless [a footwear store in the States].”

According to the shopper, she had spotted the round-toe footwear at Target, where you can nab them for a little over £27.

Since being shared on the social media platform, the clip has taken the internet by storm, winning Ellen more than 711k views.

Hundreds raced to comments in sheer horror, where many shared their traumatising memories of the flats.

One said: ”I will never forget walking home from school in the rain in these things. The weather didn’t stop us. Nothing did.”

Another wrote: ”My baby toe immediately started aching.”

A third chimed in: ”The girls who would take them off in school & put their sweaty feet all over the seats/desks/ walk around without shoes !!! I’m triggered LMFAO.”

”My 2009 business casual era,” someone else chuckled.

”NO NO NO. PLEASE NO,” a viewer begged.
