In May of this year, Halle Bailey flipped her fins into our hearts with her stunning performance as Ariel in the live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.

Alongside castmates including Javier Barden as King Triton, Melissa McCarthy as the sea witch Ursula, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Awkwafina as Scuttle and Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Bailey presented a new take on the beloved 1989 Disney animation.

Despite new music and an expanded story, the new movie also made sure to have plenty of special nods to its roots, such as a cameo for original Ariel voice actress Jodi Benson.

With the 2023 version of The Little Mermaid only now showing intermittently in cinemas – and fans already eying up another Disney-adjacent movie for 23-year-old Halle to do – many are curious as to how (and where) else you can catch the film.

We’ve got the answer for you.

The Little Mermaid, to the surprise of some fans, is now available to watch on various digital platforms in the UK.

This does not, however, for now, include Disney Plus, the company’s subscription-based streaming platform where all of its major new releases are eventually added.

As of Tuesday July 25, Disney has made The Little Mermaid available for home viewing on a collection of platforms, via VOD.

It can be purchased from Amazon Prime Video for £13.99 in the UK as well as the Sky Store and Apple TV+.

The movie is then scheduled to be released later this year on DVD and Blu-Ray on September 25.

When is the live action Little Mermaid coming to Disney Plus?

The Little Mermaid will make its debut on Disney Plus at some point in the future but an exact date has not yet been announced, Disney confirmed.

When it does, it will be available for all subscribers to enjoy, with a subscription to the streaming service currently costing £7.99 a month.

Alternatively, if you’re in the mood for a classic cartoon then the original Little Mermaid is available to watch on Disney Plus right now.
