Ashley Cole is married once again, having tied the knot with his partner Sharon Canu this weekend.

The former footballer, 42, wed model Sharon in an intimate ceremony in Italy, 16 months after he popped the question.

Surrounded by friends and family, the loved-up pair invited their nearest and dearest to a seaside location.

They exchanged vows under a floral arch, with the bride looking stunning in a lace gown.

Ashley – looking dapper in a black tux – beamed from ear to ear as they left the ceremony, being showered with confetti.

As to be expected, while it was a small ceremony, there was still a celebrity guest list.

The couple said ‘I do’ in front of Frank and Christine Lampard, as well as John Terry, Sam Faiers and her partner Paul Knightley.

Sharon also had a raucous hen do, soaking up the sun with a group of pals, including former Towie star Sam.

Their coastal nuptials come after a source spoke to The Sun earlier this month about what was to come.

‘Ashley and Sharon are madly in love and have spent months planning their special day,’ they said.

‘They met in 2014 when he joined AS Roma and now they are returning to the city for their nuptials.

‘Loads of her family live there and it’s very romantic – it’s going to be a very special day. They have put lots of money into it but they have only invited close friends and family.’

The insider added: ‘As a couple, they have been very private so they don’t feel the need for a flashy, public wedding.’

Ashley first met Sharon in 2014 and they got engaged last year, now sharing son Jaxon, six, and four-year-old daughter Grace.

Their marriage comes 12 years after Ashley divorced pop star Cheryl, to whom he was married from 2006 until 2010.

It’s safe to say their split was messy and played out rather publicly.

Ashley’s infidelity was exposed, although the couple did try to patch things up.

Alas, months after committing to moving forwards with their marriage, at the start of 2010, it was alleged that the former footie star had cheated on Cheryl with four other women.

Writing about the moment she learned about his cheating, Cheryl wrote in her explosive memoir: ‘”I hope you enjoyed it!”, I screamed. “I hope she was worth it! It’s the end of your marriage!

‘”You don’t understand what you’ve done”.’

She added: ‘After hours of me ranting, screaming and crying uncontrollably, I was exhausted.’
