Celebrity MasterChef elimination shock as judges decide nobody is going home with all four heading to finals-Rachael O'Connor-Entertainment – Metro

There was an unexpected twist in the Celebrity MasterChef semi-finals as nobody was sent home.
Dani Dyer, James Buckley, Marcus Brigstocke and Mica Ven gave it their all on Thursday’s thrilling semis, being put to the test on everything from sushi to burgers.
And while both James and Mica worried their time had come to an end as their final dishes – burger and chips with their own twist – had some issues, they could breathe a sigh of relief as they made it through to the finals.
In fact, every one of the wannabe chefs made it through, as judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace decided they simply couldn’t afford to lose any of them.
Discussing who had been the weakest in the final challenge, John said they ‘both cooked great burgers, but not very good chips,’ while Gregg agreed it was a ‘burger off,’ adding it was an ‘incredibly tough decision.’
When it was time for the finalists – and whoever was going home – to be announced, the judges turned everything on its head after confirming Marcus and Dani were through.
They told Mica and James: ‘This decision has been extremely tough.

‘The decision is that you’re both going through to the Quarter Final. It’s too tough to call.’
The pair were absolutely flabbergasted when Gregg added: ‘Both of those burgers were just top quality, we don’t want to lose you.’
Mica in particular seemed in shock, shouting out: ‘What?!’ while James was in disbelief, later clapping his hands to his mouth.

He soon cheered right up and, on top of the world, announced he ‘can’t wait to see what happens next.’
The shock non-elimination came too late for TV star Richie Anderson, who went home on Wednesday – the first, and so far only, elimination of the series.
Richie admitted he was ‘absolutely mortified’ as he served up a meal of jerk chicken – which was still pink in the middle.
He later said he was ‘gutted’ to be eliminated but had had an ‘amazing time’ – and had now ‘caught the bug’ for cooking.
Celebrity MasterChef continues tomorrow at 8.30pm on BBC One and iPlayer
