Irish TV presenter Angela Scanlon is the latest star confirmed for this year’s Strictly Come Dancing line-up.
She joins Eddie Kadi, Amanda Abbington, Layton Williams, Angela Rippon, and Krishnan Guru-Murthy in swapping the day job for the ballroom later this year.
Speaking about joining the Strictly family, Angela was evidently over the moon.
‘I’m excited. I’m not great at keeping a secret, it’s a bit of a relief. But it’s all very real now,’ she told Zoe Ball on her Radio 2 Breakfast show.
She added: ‘I’ve told a few people. If you tell me a secret and it’s super guarded you can people confident I’m not going to blab it, but I’ve told 1700 of my closest friends.
‘I have no idea how my pelvic floor will react to that level of jumping.’
While Angela struggled to contain her excitement during Monday’s breakfast show, she also has a lot of questions that need answered.
‘I’m terrified, I’m excited and I have so many questions,’ she explained.
‘Will they make me tan? How itchy are sequins?! Do they do flesh coloured sports bras? Well – there’s only one way to find out, right!?
‘Now I’m panicking a bit… but also secretly thrilled about the prospect of all that glitter. Let’s go!’
Angela hosts the hugely-successful interior design show Your Home Made Perfect on BBC Two. Angela is the only woman in the UK and Ireland to have their own Saturday night chat show with Ask Me Anything on RTÉ One.

Last year, Angela published her first book Joyrider, part empowering guide and part memoir, all about the importance of bringing gratitude into everyday life. Starting off as a stylist, she worked in fashion TV in Ireland, before beginning her UK career as the new presenter of Robot Wars along with documentaries for the BBC.
Angela’s casting comes after actor Eddie was confirmed as the fifth Strictly star taking to the dance floor.
‘Wow. Anyone who knows me understands that music and dance are so important and central to who I am,’ he said.
‘I’m so unbelievably proud and honoured that Strictly and the BBC have asked me to join the 2023 team.
‘I promise you, I’m going to give it everything I’ve got. This is going to be a vibe.’
Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One and iPlayer later this year.
