Martin Lewis is the face of website Money Saving Expert, and relied on by millions for his advice on personal finance – but what is his family life like behind the scenes?

Currently, Martin is taking a summer break from social media and work for a ‘battery recharge’, having made countless TV and radio appearances during the cost of living crisis, including as a regular presenter on Good Morning Britain.

The Manchester-born financial journalist set up Money Saving Expert in 2003 from his front room, for a total spend of £80. It focused on how to save money on bills, and became such a hit that by 2012 he was fronting The Martin Lewis Money Show on ITV.

But away from the cameras, who is Martin Lewis married to and does he have any children?

Who is Martin Lewis’ wife?

Martin Lewis is married to BBC Click presenter Lara Lewington (aka Mrs MSE).

Lara is a technology journalist and expert on artificial intelligence, and they are believed to have started dating around 2005, when Lara was working as a reporter for Five News.

She had previously worked as a runner on Channel 5’s It’s a Knockout, and the couple wed in 2009.

Does Martin Lewis have children?

Martin and Lara have a 10-year-old daughter, Sapphire (aka Mini MSE), but don’t share pictures of her on social media.

In an interview with the Sunday Times, Martin said: ‘When my daughter was born, I remember saying: ‘I’ll buy her everything she needs, but not everything she wants’. Unfortunately, I didn’t factor in her special power. Those eyes.

‘I’m helpless and usually resort to saying, ‘Ask mummy’, because mummy is stronger than me. We don’t splurge on her, but one of my greatest joys is making her happy.’

Where does Martin Lewis live?

The family lives in London, but are also believed to own properties in Cheshire.

The Sunday Times Rich List put Martin Lewis’s net worth at a staggering £123 million in 2021 – with much of this often attributed to the 2012 sale of MoneySavingExpert.com, a deal put at around £87 million.

He is a big believer in giving back, and has so far given £20m to charity, with the biggest donation helping support people’s mental health.
