Jeremy Clarkson was left less than impressed after discovering his staff were hoodwinked by thieves who made away with items including a £41 gin in a tin from his Diddly Squat farm shop.

Earlier this week the former Top Gear star, 63, revealed he’d been robbed by two men who stole nearly £150 worth of items from his Oxfordshire based business.

Sharing a CCTV clip of one of the men who had his face obscured by a cap and was captured putting a bottle in his jacket, Jeremy wrote: ‘This man came “shopping” at the farm shop. I would like to meet the cu.’

Now more details of the brazen incident have been revealed, and it turns out the thieves had gone into the shop to steal while it was closed.

Usually shut on Mondays and Tuesdays, the staff were spending the day restocking the store when the men with sticky fingers made their way in.

With the door left slightly ajar, the shoplifter and his accomplice snuck in behind a female worker.

As one distracted the shopkeeper, the other grabbed a pink bottle of booze, thought to be the £41 Juniper, Beetroot, Apple and Dill flavoured gin, and stuffed it into his pocket.

Speaking about Jeremy later catching the pair red-handed on security footage, a worker told MailOnline the presenter was irate.

‘Jeremy was fuming when he found out what had happened. That’s why he put the video out on social media. The culprit, or more likely, culprits, deserve to be caught,’ they said.

‘I can’t repeat exactly what Jeremy said when he found out, but it would be fair to say he was not very happy.

‘He’d been filming here for a day or two at the time.’

They added the ‘cheeky sods’ had taken their chance after seeing the entrance to the shop slightly ajar, with one of the men distracting the female worker while the other ‘helped himself’ to the products.

The shop, which was opened in 2020, is a ‘small barn full of good, no-nonsense things you’ll like’ as explained by the TV star.

Items range from jams and chutneys to aprons and tea towels, as well as gin, candles and clothing.

While many people expressed their shared annoyance when seeing the footage, they also poked fun at the men: ‘People actually think cameras don’t exist.’

‘When you steal from someone who has 6.7 million followers and get caught on camera,’ someone else pointed out.

Officers have urged anyone with information to call 101 or make a report on its website quoting the reference number 43230353268.
