Ed Sheeran had a brief career change, swapping recordings for retail as he worked a shift at a Lego store in America.

Of course, the 32-year-old is not hanging up his guitar just yet, despite voicing his concerns about AI replacing artists.

The Brit put in a shift at the Mall of America on Saturday, August 12, surprising fans by signing Lego boxes, handing out gifts, and meeting hundreds of unsuspecting fans.

It was only appropriate that Ed finished his trip to the store by singing an acoustic version of his hit song Lego House.

Lego House was initially released over 10 years ago on Ed’s + album and featured a freshly post-Harry Potter Rupert Grint in the music video.

‘Went to the Mall of America today to work in the LEGO store / hand out LEGO sets and sing Lego house. LEGO!!!!’ enthused the A Team singer on Instagram.

Ed explains he is in Minnesota in the Lego store and has his ‘Lego outfit’ on to be a ‘brick specialist’ for the day before his second Minnesota gig on his tour.

‘Are you kidding me?’ an excited fan says as she spots Ed behind the counter, ‘My daughter’s gonna freak out.’

He rocks a bright yellow apron and Lego-branded t-shirt as he greets fans, including some kids who look completely starstruck by the Thinking Out Loud singer.

When asked about his favourite Lego set, Ed pointed to a knight’s castle and explained: ‘Me and my brother had a tiny wizard set.’

Then it was time for the star to perform, taking to a small cordoned-off space outside the front of the store to thunderous applause.

The video doesn’t share footage of the intimate gig but Ed then showed new Lego Minifigures he would be handing out at his concert that evening.

He showed off a little figure, which came with a white brick and a top which read: ‘Autumn is coming’.

Autumn is coming is something Ed has been hinting at for a while, with fans reporting his show was centred around a big reveal coming this ‘Autumn 9’.

Lego’s official Instagram commented: ‘We think we love you better now.🧡’
