David Beckham has paid tribute to Sir Michael Parkinson after his death aged 88.

It was confirmed today, Thursday August 17, that the legendary talk show host had died, as celebrities and fans alike pay tribute and remember his interviews.

A statement from Sir Michael’s family said: ‘After a brief illness Sir Michael Parkinson passed away peacefully at home last night in the company of his family.

‘The family request that they are given privacy and time to grieve.’

Taking to Instagram to remember ‘the best’, Beckham wrote: ‘We say goodbye to the best… Waking up to the sad news of Michael Parkinson passing , I was so lucky to not just be interviewed by Michael but to be able to spend precious time talking about football and family our 2 passions.’

He added: ‘Plus the GoldenBalls moment… Sending love to Mary and the whole family.’

Beckham shared pictures of Sir Michael interviewing him and Victoria, over the years, one of which saw VB reveal her, rather intimate, nickname for her husband.

During one, the superstar couple discussed with Sir Michael that Beckham had changed his image since being sent off during the 1998 World Cup.

‘Do you think David has a better public persona and image than you have?’ Sir Michael asked her.

Posh Spice replied: ‘I think he does have now, but I don’t think he did have a few years ago.’

She then accidentally let slip she called her husband ‘Golden Balls’.

‘Golden Balls Beckham eh? That’s a good one!’ Sir Michael joked, as Beckham hid his face in his hands.

‘It’s one of those things I shouldn’t have said!’ Victoria blushed.

More to come…
