Style expert reveals the looks which make you look way older than – and it’s all about your hairstyle and jewellery

AN OVER 50s fashion expert has shared that it might be your hairstyle and choice of jewellery ageing your look.

Annemarie describes herself as a “babyboomer” who is “passionate about remaining relevant by looking stylish” when you’re over 50.

She has an impressive 40k subscribers on YouTube where she shares her fashion tips.

In a recent video, Annemarie exposed the main mistakes mature ladies make with their fashion – and urged them to stop.

Jewellery plays a big part in pulling an outfit together and the style whizz recommended older women opt for “dainty” pieces – rather than plastic and chunky pieces you can find on the high street.

However, she makes a pass for hoops as a statement pair can elevate an outfit.

Annemarie also slammed anything bought from “tourist shops” – such as sweatshirts with animals or novelty logos emblazoned on.

“If you’re buying clothes from a garden centre just stop, stop, stop,” she said.

“You go to meet a friend for coffee and she’s wearing a nice modern modern jumper from Mint Velvet maybe.

“And you’re wearing your sweatshirt you’ve just bought from the garden centre with an applique tulip.

“Who looks older?”

Regarding hair, Annemarie bashed hairdressers that default to a “bob with a flat, blunt fridge” when cutting a middle-aged woman’s hair.

“It’s gonna exaggerate and enhance your wrinkles,” she said. “Your dark circles, your puffiness all around your eyes.

“I think we can just do so much better than that.”

The YouTuber instead urged women over 50 to try “slanted” bobs or even grow a bit of length into their hair.

Another hair hack she recommended was to get a side parting like hers so you could tuck the lighter side behind your ear.

Annemarie steers clear of powder make-up products – except blusher which sticks to her foundation and brings some colour to her cheeks.

Some of her preferred beauty brands for mature skin are Elizabeth Arden, L’Oréal and CeraVe.

The style whizz’s tips have resonated with a number of woman who took to the comments of her video.

“Thanks so much for your honesty on what makes women over look older,” one penned.

“At 68, I’m wearing clothing and styles that are fresh, modern and not ageing.
