Jenny Ryan didn’t hold back when chatting about Graham Linehan’s recent Edinburgh Fringe drama.

Earlier this month, a stand-up comedy show in Edinburgh which included The IT Crowd creator Graham, 55, was cancelled after complaints were made to the venue.

Graham – who is a vocal critic of aspects of the trans rights movement – threatened legal action after Leith Arches axed the Comedy Unleashed event featuring him on the line-up.

Speaking about the move on Tuesday, 41-year-old Jenny, who is best known for appearing on The Chase, told Metro.co.uk that Graham is ‘really annoying’.

Speaking from Edinburgh, where she performed her new show Jenny Ryan: Out of the Box, the TV star said: ‘He says he got cancelled by the Fringe then he gets a column in the Telegraph to whinge about it.’

Jenny was referring to a column written by Graham that was published on Saturday titled: ‘My cancellation has trapped me in one of my own sitcoms.’

She continued: ‘That’s not being cancelled, Graham. No.

‘It felt to me there was never any intention of putting a comedy show on, it was all about publicity.

‘The fact that that’s taken so many column inches away from all the great stuff that’s going on here, all the positive stuff that’s going on here in Edinburgh, that’s really, really annoying to a lot of performers, and people who are putting a lot of effort in here.’

Jenny concluded: ‘We’re done with him. It’s not that he’s cancelled. He’s boring.’

After his Edinburgh show was cancelled Graham performed in the Scottish city’s streets and became emotional as he addressed the backlash.

He said: ‘I’ve never seen anything as insane as the last two days.

‘And I keep asking people what I’ve said wrong and what I’m saying wrong in this fight about women’s spaces, about children being mutilated in and sterilised in gender clinics and about the women who are being harassed and threatened for standing up.’

He insisted comedy is his ‘first love’, noting that he wanted to tell ‘a couple of silly jokes’ and adding: ‘They can’t even let me do that.’

Previously, Graham has compared trans children to ‘Nazi experiments’ and called trans rights activism ‘evil’.

In 2020 he was banned from Twitter for violating its hateful conduct rules with comments about trans people. He was reinstated – with the likes of Donald Trump – in Elon Musk’s takeover.

Metro.co.uk has reached out to Graham’s reps for comment.
