Fans have expressed their concern for One Direction star Liam Payne amid the star’s health struggles.

A heartbroken Liam, 29, revealed on Friday (August 25) that he had no choice but to postpone his upcoming South American tour due to a kidney infection.

Following a stay in hospital and on doctor’s advice, the Strip That Down hitmaker is resting at home, vowing to put on a ‘better’ show for his adoring fanbase in the future.

Sharing an announcement video to social media, the Brit Award winner apologised to his followers, adding that his illness is ‘something I wouldn’t wish on anyone’.

He thanked fans for their love and support, with many now admitting they’re worried about Liam’s well-being.

‘The urge to hug him is overwhelming. He looks so sad and disappointed. Liam love, we aren’t going anywhere and will wait whatever time it takes to see you. We want you healthy and happy’, one fan tweeted.

‘Worried ab Liam. I really hope he’s okay’, another wrote.

Another tweeted the star: ‘Please get well soon!! We’re all worried about you, like immensely much, we can’t see you suffering, at least I can’t, I wish you good luck and all the best and everything positive in the world, you mean so much to me.’

‘I’m worried for you my angel. Please get well soon’, another echoed.

One fan also brought up Liam’s history of kidney problems.

‘The fact that Liam Payne has suffered from kidney issues all his life and now him getting kidney infection is just heartbreaking to see. I’m crying because he doesn’t deserve any of this he was so excited for the mini tour and was planning a lot of stuff for it.’

Indeed, Liam has spoken about his health woes in the past.

The singer was born prematurely, which resulted in him having just one working kidney.

He wrote in One Direction’s 2011 book Dare to Dream: ‘When I was born I was effectively dead. The doctors couldn’t get any reaction from me so I had to be brought round and although it seemed like I was ok, there were underlying problems.

Liam was then in and out of hospital as a child and, as he got older, he had to be careful not to drink too much and stay ‘healthy’.

However, in August 2012, the boyband alum revealed that his once-nonworking kidney had randomly healed.

The outpouring of fan concern comes after Liam got frank about his mental health and addiction struggles.

Speaking in a YouTube update video, the Familiar vocalist revealed a stint in rehab as he struggled to stay sober.

On staying in the US centre, that specialises in helping people overcome with past trauma, Liam shared: ‘I was really happy, when I arrived, to put a stopper on life and work.

‘I didn’t have my phone for nearly a hundred days, I didn’t connect with the outside world at all.

‘Upon leaving, actually, the hardest point was turning the phone back on, it was a little bit scary. But it was a nice world to come back out to.’

Liam also praised ex-girlfriend Cheryl and their six-year-old son Bear for giving him the chance to ‘go and get well’.

He admitted to hitting ‘rock bottom’, which prompted him to realise he had to ‘do something’ since he was in ‘bad shape’.

‘Honestly, more than anything I want to say thank you to Bear and his mum for giving me a little bit of freedom to go and get well. There is no point trying to be a dad when you have nothing to teach,’ he added candidly.

‘I feel like I have a grip on life now. After I got back out, that process had worked for me, but there were still some little bits left that I kind of had to deal with myself.’
