I’m a plus-size model – shopping for curves can be tough, I’m sharing my secrets to dressing for your body shape

A PLUS-SIZE model has candidly spilled the ups and downs of modeling and what it’s really like to have her curves in the limelight.

Speaking exclusively with The U.S. Sun about plus-size fashion and modeling, she calls her hourglass figure a “blessing” and encourages other women to love their bodies, too.

Chloe Vick (@chloervick) shares videos and photos of her fashion finds on TikTok and Instagram, amassing thousands of loyal fans across platforms.

The 28-year-old Brisbane-based beauty says the passion for fashion started at a young age.

“I’ve always kind of been into photography and filming from a very young age. I was a bit of a hermit in high school and I’ve always been curvy as well,” she said.

AHEAD OF THE CURVE

With the growing popularity of social media platforms like YouTube in the aughts, Chloe saw a creative opportunity for self-expression.

“I started making videos and my videos seemed to resonate with other people.

“It’s been really cool because I realize that a lot of people share the same opinion as me [on] how we’re treated as curvy women in this world and how society views us.

“There’s a shift happening in terms of big brands accommodating bigger sizes now, but there’s still so much to be done,” she said.

She said that although brands are listening to the demand for size inclusivity, the work isn’t finished.

“I think brands are doing that as sort of a token,” she said. “There’s a long way to go still.

“I like making videos about what we all go through because it shows representation.

“I like to see a video that I relate to and I think is cool that I can do that for other people as well.”

STRIKE A POSE

When it comes to celebrating her figure, Chloe says confidence is key.

“I’m proud of what I look like. This body has gotten me through so much, so why would I hide it?

“I’ve been lucky enough to be blessed with an hourglass figure, so I do have a smaller waist.

“I tend to accentuate that part of my body by finding something that’s cinched at the waist,” she said.

Chloe has experienced the ins and outs of plus-size modeling and hopes that her content gives other curvy women the confidence to step out feeling their best.

“Wear your clothes, don’t let them wear you,” she advised.

Chloe also added that plus-size beauties should not limit themselves when it comes to dressing up.

“Don’t think of a piece of clothing as this object that you can’t touch. Don’t be afraid to just experiment and make it work for your body,” she said.

WORLD WIDE WARDROBE

One of Chloe’s secret weapons for dressing to the nines is scouring the internet for online boutiques that cater to curvy fashion.

“I find that if you dig deep enough, there is always a brand, small designer, or someone who is repurposing clothing that can accommodate to what you’re looking for,” she said.

She revealed that she often shops at thrift stores to find unique pieces in a sea of off-the-rack styles.

“When I go thrifting, it’s a lot harder to find plus-size clothing, so I steer towards menswear because there are some good things I can get,” she said.

Chloe uses her background in fashion design to create one-of-a-kind pieces tailored to her figure.

“I know how to tweak clothes, but I don’t do any major tweaks, especially when it comes to tailoring blazers. I just like finding a good fit.

“I think menswear in general is catered to bigger shoulders, and that usually extends to the breast area.

“If you’re a woman trying on men’s blazers, it’s it’s usually a lot more accommodating than women’s blazers,” she said.

WEAR THE TROUSERS

Chloe’s confident approach to plus-size style took her by surprise.

The fashion blogger often receives messages of praise from fellow curvy women around the globe.

She said: “I think reading it is quite insane because I thought I was just posting my outfits to nothingness.

“No one was really messaging or anything in the beginning.

“Now people are starting to message me saying how inspiring I am.

“I think it’s amazing. If I can change one person’s mind about how they feel then that’s good enough for me.”

The fashionista added that she will continue to inspire others to celebrate their looks via her body-positive content.

“I’d love to be able to inspire people to embrace their bodies and not work against them. You’ve only got one life. Enjoy the body you’re in,” she added.
