Becky Lynch overcame Trish Stratus in a frantic Steel Cage Match to kick WWE Payback off in style.

The Man found herself battling the Hall of Famer and her protege Zoey Stark in a brutal and thrilling exchange worthy of the hardcore stipulation, which left both women battered and bruised.

In the end, Lynch fought off the interference and beat Stratus with a huge Man-handle Slam off the top of the cage to get a huge win.

The former women’s champion clearly blaming her ally for the disappointing result, but Stark wasn’t going to take any more abuse at the hands of the living legend, instead laying her out with the Z-360 to the cheer of the crowd.

It remains to be seen whether she’ll be positioned as the villain going forward or if she’ll be cheered against the Hall of Famer, but either way it’s set to be a fascinating feud for both women.

After the match, John Cena and The Miz turned back the clock with a hilarious interaction about Cena’s role as host as he turned to the A-lister for advice, which he was taking on board.

Miz roasted Cena for his outfit, movie roles and more, but it was no use as the 16-time world champion still named himself the special guest referee for his rival’s match with LA Knight.

The guest official added to the match with some very entertaining moments while still giving both men plenty of time to shine in their own right en route to the megastar picking up a massive win.

In tense scenes after the bell, Knight pointed out Cena’s involvement and looked more interested in fighting, but they shook hands as a show of respect.

Elsewhere on the show, Cody Rhodes will be a guest on the Grayson Waller Effect, while Waller’s newfound ally Austin Theory is challenging Rey Mysterio with the United States Title on the line.

In the main event, Shinsuke Nakamura gets a shot at Seth Rollins and the World Heavyweight Championship, and there’s more gold up for grabs as Rhea Ripley defends her Women’s World Title against Raquel Rodriguez.

Elsewhere, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn will look to hold onto the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles against Judgment Day’s Damian Priest and Finn Balor.
