I’m plus-size with an apron belly – clothes are a nightmare but my ultimate fashion hack is wearing my bottoms backwards

A PLUS-SIZE woman has shared her ultimate fashion hack for women with apron bellies.

Lindsey is a size UK 20 and has an apron belly, medically known as a pannus stomach.

The stomach shape is defined by Healthline as “hanging down from your abdomen”.

It gets its name from being an apron-like flap “under your abdominal muscles and in front of your intestines”.

Apron bellies are not exclusive to plus-size women and many people of all body shapes and sizes can develop one, such as men who have lost weight or women who have recently given birth.

People on social media have been increasingly normalising the stomach shape, as well as sharing their fashion hacks for maximum stomach comfort.

This includes Lindsey, who shares her shopping experiences, underwear solutions and fashion hauls with an apron belly.

In a recent TikTok video, she shared her ultimate hack for getting bike shorts to fit better – and it involved putting them on back-to-front.

The mum-of-one had purchased a pair of LuluLemon high-rise shorts but found they didn’t fit comfortably over her stomach.

“I purchased the LuluLemon bike shorts months ago thinking that they were gonna be groundbreaking for me,” she said.

“And they were not.”

After seeing the fashion hack on social media, Lindsey decided to put the shorts on backwards.

“I’ve only been wearing these under items,” she said as she put them back on to test the hack.

And once they were on, she affirmed they are “so much better” when worn the wrong way.

“They have this pocket that I’ve had a hard time getting to, and I can get to it now,” she quipped.

The LuluLemon Wunder Train High-Rise Short 4″ cost £48 and are sold up to size 20.

The gymwear brand says they are made from its “fastest drying fabric” and have four-way stretch.

Each pair also contains Lycra fibre for stretch and shape retention, as well as extra support.

And while they are typically designed to be worn the right way round, Lindsey has demonstrated that her hack of wearing them the wrong way actually makes them a more comfortable wear for women with apron bellies.

The fashion hack isn’t exclusive to tight shorts either – one of Lindsey’s followers revealed it works for bikini bottoms too.

“I saw a video last year of a woman wearing her swimming bottoms backwards,” she penned in the comments.

“It was life changing.”

“Love this! Normalise making clothes work to fit you, not the other way around,” another viewer said.
