Bobby Brazier is excited to get going on Strictly Come Dancing and he can’t wait to treat viewers to a ‘sexy’ routine.

The EastEnders star – who won the Rising Star prize for his performances as Freddie Slater in the soap at the National Television Awards earlier this week – will be strutting his stuff on the ballroom floor for the new series.

Asked if there’s a particular dance he’s looking forward to learning, the son of late Big Brother star Jade Goody quipped: ‘[The] sexy ones!’

The 20-year-old actor – who is looking forward to moving his ‘hips and shoulders’ on the BBC show – also played down any comparisons between his Strictly training and life on Albert Square.

Noting he wouldn’t ‘like to compare the two’, he added to the Mirror: ‘EastEnders is great, Strictly is great – I don’t think me doing Strictly makes my time at EastEnders any better.’

Despite his early success, Bobby is able to stay grounded, and he credits that with meditation, along with advice from those close to him.

‘I meditate and I try to remember things that really ground me and great things people have told me,’ he explained. ‘I read and I chant – hopefully I can keep that up.’

He’s still enjoying the plaudits coming his way though, while making sure to praise those who have helped him so far, including dad Jeff Brazier.

‘I feel so privileged and I feel like I’m a very little part of this award. I’m blessed,’ he said of his NTAs win. ‘My dad cried, I think I’m going to cry when I see him.

‘I just want to go and give him a hug now to be honest. I just want to go and hand this award to my dad, because all because of him.’

He paid tribute to his dad with a similar sentiment as he left viewers in tears during his poignant acceptance speech.

He told the audience: ‘This actually has very, very, very little to do with me and everything to do with my dad. Over the course of the last twenty years, I have consistently heard him say “because I can”.

‘It was a mantra or a moto of his, and him just saying that it’s… Because I can.’
