Dermot O’Leary forced to change outfit on This Morning over scorching UK heatwave-Pierra Willix-Entertainment – Metro

Dermot O’Leary might be able to work in a studio equipped with cooling during the ongoing heatwave, but he’s had to get changed mid-show on This Morning after getting a little bit too sweaty.

While there was a wash-out summer, the UK is finally seeing scorching high temperatures, albeit in September.

After a heatwave in June, then one of the rainiest July’s on record, followed by a pretty poor August, this week has seen temperatures reach 32C as Thursday was named the warmest day of the year.

Despite host Holly Willoughby saying earlier this week that the air-conditioning in the studio had left her freezing despite the sun shining outside, it seems the cooling wasn’t enough for Dermot.

On Friday’s show he had to undergo an outfit change.

About half an hour in, Dermot appeared after an ad break in a white polo shirt after previously wearing a beige T-shirt at the start of the show.

Speaking to co-host Alison Hammond, he then explained to viewers why he’d switched up his shirt and was pretty honest why.

As Alison gave a run-down of the weather forecast, Dermot said it was ‘so hot I’ve had to change my shirt’.

‘I’m so hot and sweaty…,’ he said.

However, there’s a chance producers also had to step in after Alison left him with make-up all over his sleeve earlier in the show.

As the programme began, Alison had welcomed her co-host back from his summer holiday and gave him a huge hug, but soon after they realised her make-up had spread all over his shirt, which they laughed off.

It’s not the first time the presenting duo have been caught up in some slightly awkward on-air moments after they didn’t realise they were live earlier this year.

In May they had a gaffe when a live cross cut to them a bit early.

Lorraine host Ranvir Singh had been ending that show with the usual cross to the This Morning studio to see what would be coming up on their programme.

However as soon as she did so, it became clear the two hosts were totally unaware they were being broadcast.

While Dermot could be heard asking a producer for a glass of water, Alison was chilling out on the couch, laying back as she scrolled her phone, as Ranvir had to try and get their attention.

When she finally did, they all started laughing, with Dermot saying they were ‘totally ready’ to proceed.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV1.
