John Cena made his return to the ring for WWE Superstar Spectacle as he wrestled in India for the first time in his two decade career.

The 16-time world champion is currently back in the world of professional wrestling with Hollywood halted amid the ongoing writers and actors strikes, giving him some freedom to return to his roots.

On Friday, he joined the rest of the WWE roster in Hyderabad for the company’s first live event in India since 2017, although it wasn’t broadcast anywhere around the world.

However, fans and local reporters have been keeping everyone up to date on social media with reports from the arena.

In the main event, Cena teamed up with World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins to take on Imperium duo Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci, as the two fan favourites picked up the win.

The show also saw the return of WWE Hall of Famer The Great Khali as the towering giant teased the possibility of an in-ring comeback, suggesting he’s got ‘one more match’ left in him.

Elsewhere, the opening tag team match pitting Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens against Veer and Sanga broke down and became a six-man with Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal joining the action.

Drew, Sami and KO got the win, before Matt Riddle came down to the ring for a dance off with Jinder.

In the first of two matches for Natalya after Becky Lynch missed the show due to passport issues, the veteran beat Zoey Stark to earn herself a Women’s World Title bout later on, although she came up short in that as Rhea Ripley retained the gold.

GUNTHER is now officially the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion in history after overtaking Honky Tonk Man’s record on Friday, and he celebrated with a win over Indian star Shanky.

There was also some NXT representation on the card, as Bron Breakker beat Odyssey Jones, who is yet to appear on television after being called up to Raw in the WWE Draft earlier this year.
