This Morning has paid tribute to Matty Lock following the tragic news of his death at the age of just 19.

Lock was a politician and campaigner who was a popular member of the Labour Party in Sefton and Merseyside.

He was recently elected as a town councillor in Maghull and was a parish councillor in Lydiate.

Lock had appeared on the ITV daytime show, reviewing vacuums and sharing his love of them, which started when he was just two and got his first toy Henry.

Back in 2018, aged just 13, Lock had sold around 300 machines to cleaning companies, private homeowners, and his teachers.

Taking to Twitter, the official This Morning page wrote that the team are ‘shocked’ by Lock’s sudden death.

Alongside a photo of him on the programme with the dates 2004-2023, they wrote: ‘Everyone at This Morning is shocked and saddened to hear of the passing of Matty Lock, aged just 19.

‘He was a delightful young man, a joy to work with and his passion for vacuum cleaners and general mechanics was infectious.

‘His family came to the studio and they were so proud that he’d turned a childhood hobby into a career.’

‘We will miss him and send our condolences to his family,’ the tribute concluded.

Many stars have joined in paying tribute to Lock, with Rylan Clark replying to the This Morning tweet with: ‘God that’s really sad. Sending love x’

Labour North West’s account wrote: ‘I want to express our deepest condolences at the loss of Cllr Matty Lock. He had his whole life ahead of him, with huge potential, who I know was admired and loved across our party. Our thoughts are with his mum and dad and family at this difficult time.’

Deputy leader of the Labour Party Angela Rayner, who previously campaigned with Lock, also paid tribute.

‘Incredibly sad news, Matty did so much for his community,’ she wrote. ‘My love and prayers are with his friends and family.’
