WWE producer Nick Aldis had to think fast after wrestler ‘projectile vomited all over the ring’-Alistair McGeorge-Entertainment – Metro

Anything can happen in professional wrestling and Nick Aldis has seen it all at every level of the game.

The Norwich-born wrestling veteran – who returned to IMPACT Wrestling for a short spell earlier this year before recently taking on a producer role with WWE – worked his way up from the UK independent scene and became the NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion, but even he has been in some mortifying situations.

Asked about his most embarrassing moment, he exclusively told Metro.co.uk: ‘When I was doing the travelling world champion thing [for the NWA], I remember I wrestled a match in West Virginia once and before we had a chance to touch, the guy I was supposed to wrestle just projectile vomited all over the ring and keeled over.

‘He was really sick, he just didn’t wanna say anything because he didn’t wanna let anyone down and miss his opportunity.

‘The poor guy walks out to the ring and can’t hold it any longer and just as we’re about to lock up, “waaaargh”, just vomited all over the ring!’

Aldis, who was speaking while he was still with IMPACT earlier this year, didn’t name the wrestler in question but did admit they had to change plans on the fly.

‘We had to call an audible and just end the match. I just cut a promo, did an impromptu meet and greet,’ he laughed. ‘All of those things help build your experience, build your character and build your readiness.’

He chuckled admitting there are ‘so many’ hilarious memories from his time starting out in the business, and it’s helped when it comes to ‘being ready for everything’ on live television.

Aldis even recalled one match with fellow British wrestler Wade Barrett – who now commentates on Monday Night Raw alongside Michael Cole – very early in their respective careers.

On one particular occasion, the pair – neither of whom vomited in Aldis’ other story were at a working men’s club where the wrestlers have to ‘walk outside’ to get to the actual venue.

‘We had to get dressed in the building next door and just walk through the door of the social club entrance,’ he recalled. ‘It was raining, so then one of the other wrestlers came in and had an umbrella! Genuinely, when Stu and I wrestled that show – we always made the joke that there were people there reading the paper.

‘They were annoyed that there was a wrestling show there disturbing their normal evening at the social club. But you know, it’s like – if you can work in front of a tough crowd, then you can work in front of an easy one.’

It means at this point in his career, Aldis – who has recently made it clear he’s not done in the ring despite his new WWE role – can’t be fazed.

He smiled: ‘Look, I got dressed in front of a van and then made my entrance out of said van. Everything you can think of, the most low-rent, indie WrestleCrap – I’ve done it! In that respect, it’s sort of like, hey, you can’t scare me!’
