I’m a fashion fan and tried the scary ballet pump trend – it was an epic fail, I feel so embarrassed
WITH fashion trends from the Nineties and Noughties continuing to make a comeback, it’s no surprise that ballet pumps are being spotted in stores again.
Once an outfit staple for Kate Moss, it’s now the likes of Bella Hadid championing the girly footwear.

But not everyone is convinced by the trend – with one fashion fan admitting she feels “embarrassed” having them on her feet.
Molly McFarlane, from Glasgow, regularly shares her shopping hauls and outfit inspiration on social media (@molly.mcfarlane), and is always willing to give trending looks a go.
In a recent TikTok video, the 26-year-old revealed she had bought a £35 pair of silver ballet pumps from ASOS.
“I feel like I’m loving seeing the ballet pumps on everybody else” she said.
“So I’m like, what is really stopping me from trying them?
“So I got a metallic pair because I feel like metallic just goes with a lot. And I have a lot of metallic I can style it with.”
Molly went for a “cute and girly” vibe with her outfit, pairing the shoes with black jeans, a white crop top, beige cardigan and metallic handbag.
But still not convinced by the ‘trendy’ shoes, she added: “I’m kind of scared just to be so flat to the ground. They also look really large. They’re a size four.
“Like, so why am I embarrassed to put them on? I literally feel embarrassed to try them on. I just feel silly and I just don’t know if they’re very me.
“I kind of like don’t want to see the the band on them because I just feel like that makes them a bit less cool. I don’t know why.
“They look weird. I’m not sure about these. I just feel bizarre.”
Molly’s video has racked up more than 106,000 views with her fellow fashion fans just as divided over the footwear.
“I’m not sold on them”, one admitted.
A second wrote: “No I had some and I returned them because I feel pure embarrassment hahaha.”
A third added: “Remind me of the ones my daughter wore to a Christmas party when she was three.”
And a fourth pleaded: “Shoe expert here, don’t do it.”
Others, however, are convinced Molly has rocked the Noughties look as one insisted: “Okay I’m obsessed. You make anything look cool.”
Another agreed: “I was freaked out when you first showed them but they look awesome on you.”
“They are such a scary shoe to style but you have served as expected”, a third gushed.
Meanwhile, someone else wrote: “No cos they look sooo good Molly.”
Reality TV fans may recognise influencer Molly from season one of The Agency: Unfiltered.
The BBC Scotland series followed Aquarius Creative, Scotland’s largest influencer agency, its founders Kirsten Cameron and Amy Moore, and some of the top girls on their books.
And Beeb bosses have renewed the show for a second season, which is expected to air next year.
Kirsten and Amy said: “We’re so excited to have the opportunity to share our story with viewers once again, showing them the unfiltered reality of our world.
“We’re passionate about what we do and it’s been humbling to see the audience response to the first series. We can’t wait to get going on series two.”
