WWE fans noticed Edge has been removed from the opening video for SmackDown.

The Hall of Famer, real name Adam Copeland, had been part of the introduction to the blue brand’s weekly show, but this week he was nowhere to be seen alongside the likes of Roman Reigns, LA Knight, John Cena, Damage CTRL, Rey Mysterio and Bianca Belair.

As eagle eyed viewers clocked, the Rated R Superstar no longer features in the opening, with rumours abound that he’s leaving the company weeks after celebrating his 25th anniversary.

Last month, Edge confirmed his emotional and physical match with friend and fellow veteran Sheamus was the last on his contract, and it had since been reported that his deal was running out in September.

It looks like that’s the case with his contract expected to expire today (September 30), and fans are convinced his omission from the SmackDown intro is proof he’s gone.

‘Basically confirms that he’s gone,’ wrote one fan, as another viewer insisted it is ‘the end of an era’ while a third person added on X (formerly Twitter): ‘Well looks like he’s really gone…’

There has been a lot of speculation that the former world champion could jump to All Elite Wrestling and reunite with his childhood friend Christian Cage, who is the current TNT Champion in the rival company.

AEW is holding WrestleDream on Sunday (October 1), and fans are wondering if he’ll appear at the pay-per-view.

‘Edge removed from the Smackdown intro, see you at WrestleDream my boy 🔥🔥🔥,’ teased one fan, with others getting exciting by the prospect – although it should be noted he is still listed on the SmackDown roster on WWE.com.

Seeing Edge leave for the rival promotion would be a huge deal, particularly after WWE has made sure to hype up the signing of former AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill.

Announcing the news, Triple H said earlier this week: ‘A dominant athlete who’s here to change the game… Join me in welcoming the newest @WWE Superstar, @Jade_Cargill, to the @WWEUniverse.’
