A painting of David and Victoria Beckham at a London gallery could sell for more than £1million at auction as the football star’s alleged ‘affair’ with his former assistant Rebecca Loos hits headlines once more.

The portrait, created by contemporary artist Elizabeth Peyton, shows the football ace, 48, and Spice Girl, 49, clutching their eldest child Brooklyn, 24, as an infant.

It is one of the highlights of London art gallery Sotheby’s Frieze Sales and is estimated to be worth between £1.2million and £1.8million.

Frieze London will take place from October 11 to 15 in Regent’s Park and will see various pieces go under the hammer, with Peyton’s Beckham piece up for auction on October 12.

Posting a picture of the stunning painting on Instagram, a representative from Sotheby’s described it as the ‘pinnacle of celebrity cultures in the 1990s and early 2000s.’

‘It’s as if they’ve just been snapped by the paparazzi,’ they wrote in the caption.

‘Elizabeth Peyton’s “David, Victoria and Brooklyn” (1999), depicting none other than the Beckham family, represents the pinnacle of celebrity culture in the 1990s and early 2000s.

‘The Beckhams were at the height of their fame at the time, and here Peyton immortalizes a particularly vulnerable moment while maintaining a sense of glamour and immediacy.

‘Known for her striking, dreamlike renditions of celebrities and friends, Peyton created this work at the pinnacle of her own career as well — and it’s a stellar example of the artist’s celebrated and distinctive approach to portraiture.’

It comes as fashion mogul Victoria finally addressed the rumoured ‘affair’ David had with former glamour model Rebecca Loos.

In a new Netflix documentary about the former footballer’s life, the couple are put on the spot about the alleged affair in which David was accused of having had an extra-marital relationship with his former personal assistant Rebecca, 46, while he was playing for Real Madrid in 2003.

However, both Victoria and David have always denied the allegations, with Victoria speaking about how the rumours impacted their relationship for the documentary.

‘It was the hardest period because it felt like the world was against us,’ she said.

‘Here’s the thing — we were against each other if I’m being completely honest.

You know, up until Madrid sometimes it felt like us against everybody else but we were together, we were connected, we had each other.

She continued: ‘But when we were in Spain, it didn’t really feel like we had each other either. And that’s sad. I can’t even begin to tell you how hard it was and how it affected me. It was a nightmare.

‘It was an absolute circus — and everyone loves it when the circus comes to town right? Unless you’re in it.’

David also addressed the allegations in the four-part series and spoke about how it affected them individually and in their marriage.

He said: ‘There was some horrible stories which were difficult to deal with.

‘It was the first time that me and Victoria had been put under that kind of pressure in our marriage.’
