In her video, the TikTok user, who goes by Level Blue (@level_blue), explained why each style is worth avoiding.

For her first recommendation, she advised viewers to steer clear of “shiny coats that look like plastic garbage bags.”

She explained: “They tend to look wrinkly and glossy, they usually make an awful sound when you move and definitely don’t look elegant.”

Next, she suggested avoiding cropped puffer jackets that end at your waist.

She told her audience: “They add a lot of bulk to your upper body, it messes up with your proportions and balance.

“It’s a very cheap look overall and you definitely want to avoid it.”

The elegance pro also explained why faux fur coats bring down your look.

The expert clarified: “It doesn’t mean it’s a chance to wear a real fur coat just pick a different material altogether, there are plenty of warm coat options that aren’t fluffy or look like a stuffed animal toy.”

For her next tip, she recommended steering clear of oversized shapeless parkas.

She explained: “It looks like you are wearing a sack of potatoes with a rope around it.

“These tend to have a lot of pockets and different dangly bits, it creates a cluttered and messy look.”

She told her followers: “You want your jacket to have clean lines to give you that lean and elegant look.”

The elegance coach also highlighted the importance of investing in high-quality lambskin jackets.

She explained: “It can be a very chic and classic look but only when it is well made and the real deal, which is usually extremely pricey.

“These fast fashion parodies look very bad in person, whatever materials they use look like a teddy blanket.”

Finally, she suggested opting for form-fitting coats over oversized styles.

“You do yourself a disservice by wearing these shapeless bulky things, especially in dark colors like black, gray, and brown,” she said.

The expert asked her viewers: “Why do you want to look like a blob?”

She continued: “Instead, go for a form-fitting coat, it will cinch in your waist and the belt will create a feminine silhouette, and you will look a lot more elegant.”

TikTok users took to the comments section to share their thoughts on the advice.

“I agree about fast fashion, almost all the items look cheap because they’re low quality and you can see them everywhere,” one viewer said.

Another follower wrote: “I agree although I do have a faux fur coat. I will wear it out and then invest in a good-quality wool coat. I’m learning so much from you.”

A third person commented: “100% fast fashion is sometimes good but with coats and blazers [it’s] a disaster!”
