David Beckham cut a sombre figure as he was spotted leaving his hotel for Lady Cathy Ferguson’s funeral.
The retired Manchester United legend, like many of the club’s former players, have a special bond with iconic manager Sir Alex Ferguson and they will be joining those paying their respects after his wife’s death earlier this month.
On Monday, Beckham was seen in a black suit as he stepped out of his hotel in Glasgow to head to the service.
His former teammates Gary Neville and Steve Bruce were also spotted making their way out of the venue to attend the funeral, while ex-Hull City manager Bruce also had a reunion with Liverpool’s Andy Robertson.
The defender was seen greeting his former boss, while he looked in some pain with his arm in a sling after suffering a shoulder injury #during Scotland’s recent loss to Spain over the weekend.
Seeing Bruce, Neville and Beckham among those going to the funeral further shows the special relationship Ferguson still has with many of the players he coached during his 27 years in charge of the club.

A statement from the Ferguson family on October 6 read: ‘We are deeply saddened to confirm the passing yesterday of Lady Cathy Ferguson. The family asks for privacy at this time.’
Speaking to Sky Sports while attending the Qatar Grand Prix the following day, Beckham said: ‘Obviously my deepest sympathies go to the boss.
‘To have Cathy by his side for a long, long time for many, many years, to give him strength he needed through his life and his career, it’s a very sad time for him and his family and grandkids.
‘We send our love to him, but she was an incredible person. We looked up to the boss but we also looked up to Cathy. It’s a really sad time for him.’

Sir Alex and Lady Cathy were married for 57 years, and the United legend has said after his retirement that she provided a ‘bedrock of both stability and encouragement’ throughout his managerial career.
As a tribute to Lady Cathy, United’s players wore black armbands against Brentford the next day, while the flags at Old Trafford are being flown at half mast, and hours after the news was revealed, United’s Women’s side also wore black armbands in their 2-2 draw with Arsenal.
Lady Cathy famously convinced Sir Alex to reverse his decision to retire in 2002, which saw the Scot stay in charge of United for a further 11 years, and Rio Ferdinand was his standout buy in his first summer since the u-turn.

Ferdinand was fined two weeks’ wages in 2012 after he refused to wear a Kick It Out t-shirt before a Premier League match against Stoke City despite Ferguson saying his entire squad would wear the warm-up shirts.
He said afterwards that Ferdinand had ’embarrassed’ him by doing so, therefore fining him two weeks’ wages, but Lady Cathy made him realise his mistake.
‘I said “I’m not wearing it”, they didn’t back my brother [Anton] in the way I thought they should or back the case the way they should have done it,’ he explained.

‘I went in the next day, I spoke to him and said to him “Listen…” and he said, “Do you know what, I wish you would have just told me, because I’ve gone into the press conference on the Friday speaking about it, everyone’s going to wear the T-shirt, they’re asking me and I’m saying all my team are wearing the Kick It Out T-shirt because that’s what we believe in.
‘”And you knew then you weren’t going to wear it and you never said anything to me. You made me look a fool, but I spoke to my missus and she said to me – You never asked Rio what he was going to do, knowing what he’s been through with his family. So therein lies your mistake.”‘
