WWE legend Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler made a rare public appearance over the weekend sporting a very different look.

The 73-year-old Hall of Famer suffered a massive stroke in February and hasn’t really been seen much at all since appearing on the Raw 30th anniversary show the previous month.

However, he was recently out in public for the Memphis Tigers game on its so-called Wrestling Night last week, and he was seen sporting a full white goatee as the usually clean shaven star rocked a beard.

While some social media users wondered if the image was actually AI, others were simply delighted to see The King looking well and getting out and about after his health struggles.

‘It’s good to see him leaning into his age with a different look – it’s distinguished,’ wrote one fan, while another added: ‘He’s got the beard of a king!’

‘I like the mature look 👍,’ a third person said as a different follower commented: ‘King still looking sharp, what an absolute legend.’

And someone else admitted: ‘Damn, almost didn’t recognize him, lol (sic)’

He recently met fans at a convention, but this was his first high profile appearance since he joined Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn during an ad break on Monday Night Raw back in August and greeted his hometown crowd in Memphis.

‘Look, I’m not gonna lie. I was in a pretty bad mood after getting screwed yet again by the Judgment Day, and I walked back here pretty upset,’ Sami said at the time in a video which WWE shared on social media.

He added: ‘But the second I walked through that curtain, my mood changed right away. Because, ladies and gentlemen, after all, we are in Memphis, right?’

Taking over, Owens said: ‘And there’s someone back there you guys might be a little familiar with and he cheered us up, so we figured we’d spread the joy by bringing him out. Ladies and gentlemen, Jerry “The King” Lawler!’

The packed crowd at the FedExForum chanted his name and roared their approval as he stepped out onto the stage sporting some grey stubble, while he was visibly moved by the response.

He waved to the crowd as he thanked Sami and KO for bringing him out, before stepping back behind the curtain.
