The ability to stream digital PS5 games will be available this month in the UK but it won’t be free.

PlayStation 5 is rolling out the option to play games on its consoles via cloud gaming, as streaming becomes mainstream on Sony’s console.

The feature will become available in Japan on October 17, while Europe and North America are pencilled in for October 23 and October 30, respectively.

There is a catch, however, as you do need to be a paying PS Plus subscriber to use the service and not every country will have access.

Who can use the PS5 streaming service?

The PlayStation 5 cloud streaming service can only be used on PlayStation 5 by PlayStation Plus Premium subscribers, which costs £13.49 a month.

The countries that will be included in the European push are: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Cyprus, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and United Kingdom.

Both the United States and Canada will get the service too.

Which games are on the PS5 streaming service?

Cloud streaming will be available for titles from most PlayStation platforms, including: PlayStation 1, 2, 3, and PlayStation Portable via the Classic Catalog. PlayStation 5 games are also available as Game Trials and supported digital titles from your library.

Exactly which games will be compatible is not known yet, but by the looks of it there could be quite a few.

Games will not be accessible to stream via PC or any other hardware, only PlayStation 5, and only digital copies of games.

To play games through the streaming service you can select a game from PlayStation Plus through your dashboard, or via the ‘Stream’ button when you click on the game in your library.
