I bought my wedding dress from Shein for £40 and looked perfect – why should you pay more when you only wear it once?
ON AVERAGE, couples spend around £1.4k on wedding dresses – but one cash-savvy bride forked out just £40 for hers after spotting the frock on Shein.
According to research conducted by Bride Book, the average wedding dress budget for couples in the UK range anywhere from £1k to £2k.
Rather than forking out a fortune, the cash-savvy bride opted for a cheap dress from SheinTikTok/@archandco

But instead of spending thousands, one woman, Jasmine Sun, found a more affordable alternative for her big day – a show-stopper of a dress she’d stumbled across on Shein.
Despite the relatively low price, Jasmine said the dress was a ”win”, although she did need to have the length hemmed.
The frock, which came in a pristine white colour, had backless detailing, a flattering plunging neckline, thin and feminine straps, as well a long tail.
Although originally the dress was not advertised as a frock for nuptials, people on TikTok certainly disagreed – one fellow bride-to-be even said she was considering ordering the outfit herself.
Whilst shopping on Shein, the stunner also ordered faux pearls to use as a hair accessory (£1.50), a pair of fluffy white slippers for the wedding morning (£17), as well as a sexy lace romper and belted robe in white (this cost her £16).
According to Jasmine, from Canada, there has also been some criticism over the budget-friendly dress.
She revealed that people have been sceptical you could find a frock so cheap – especially given the average cost of a wedding is close to £25k.
Hitting back at all the meanies, the stunning bride revealed how the couple had managed to keep the costs low and spend just a fraction of the astronomical sum.
”I eloped instead and it cost $4k (£3.2k),” she proudly said, sharing adorable footage of her big day.
To save as much money as possible – and also perhaps to enjoy slightly sunnier weather – the duo jetted off to the scenic country of Montenegro rather than getting married in Canada.

The breathtakingly beautiful country, which is not part of the EU, has recently become one of the biggest tourist hotspots – and with stunning mountains and lakes, we can see why Jasmine and her now-hubby had opted to tie the knot there.
Explaining why she had decided to keep the costs as low as possible for the dress, Jasmine said there was simply no need to fork out a fortune for something you will only wear once.
But whilst Shein might be all the rage for those wanting cheap fashion, there is a dirty secret behind the low prices, Fabulous investigation revealed.
Not only has the China-based company faced accusations of stolen designs and extremely poor quality over their garments, the brand’s also been slammed by concerned encivironmentalists.
It was recently revealed that Shein pumps out tonnes more pullution into the wild than its rivals in order to save cash where possible – and experts dubbed this as ”highly concerning”.
Former stylist Sarah Ditty added: “We have started to research Shein and they are very secretive.
”They disclose virtually nothing on their governance, policies, supply chain or structure. This makes it difficult for anyone on the outside to know what they’re doing.”
She noted: “The main concerns with ultra-fast-fashion companies like this — and Shein isn’t the only company producing thousands of styles a week — is the lack of information.
”There’s a history of long, exhausting working hours for some garment workers.
“The prices are a huge red flag. How do you pay your workers when you’re selling so cheaply?
”We love ‘retail therapy’ to make ourselves feel good but the reality can be tragic.
”Worst-case scenario: People are buying into forced or child labour and human trafficking without realising.”
