Has Justin Timberlake run out of swag? That appears to be the general consensus after the internet dug up some of his most cringe-worthy moments in light of Britney Spears’ book release.

The SexyBack hitmaker, 42, has found himself under the spotlight this week after his ex-girlfriend Britney, 41, spilt the tea on their tumultuous relationship in the early 2000s, with bombshells including that she secretly had an abortion during their relationship and claims that he cheated on her several times.

With Justin’s fall from grace in full swing, Britney’s fans have used it as the perfect opportunity to remind everyone of the NSYNC singer’s most awkward stage moments.

Videos of his dad dancing and cringe moves have gone viral on TikTok and X, raising the question: Just when and how did Justin lose his cool?

Sadly, we don’t have the answers but we have the visuals…

‘DC, beat ya feet’

Everyone lost their minds when Justin joined Pharrell Williams on stage at the producer’s Something In The Water festival in June 2022. However, excitement quickly turned to WTF when Justin took it upon himself to attempt Washington DC’s famous Beat Ya Feet dance.

‘DC, beat ya feet,’ Justin barked confidently before flinging his feet around clumsily with an intense look on his face.

The audience lapped it up but it wasn’t long before Justin became the butt of jokes on the internet.

‘JT did not just say ‘beat your feet’ and proceed to river dance & skip. Boy if you don’t get your ass off the stage,’ one critic tweeted.

Another mocked: ‘Are those hiking shoes? Is that some Irish step dancing added in? Why khakis? Why those shirts? So. Many. Questions.’

The roasting online was so bad that Justin actually had to issue an apology for his dancing.

‘I want to apologise to you for two reasons: here and here,’ as he flipped the camera and pointed at his feet in an Instagram video.

‘I had a long talk with both of them individually, and said “don’t you ever do that to me again.” Maybe it was the khakis…it was a real khaki vibe.

‘I’m going to make this up to you. I’m going to focus on these two guys right here and get ‘em right. Love y’all.’

Beatboxing king

Remember when Justin would always beatbox on his songs? At the time, it seemed revolutionary, pioneering for some even.

Yeah, turns out, we were all so misguided because watching him do whatever it is he did in this viral clip while wearing a gemstone bandana is just plain wrong.

Hailed as the ‘prequel to Beat Ya Feet’ by one well-humoured social media user, this clip from the archives is hard to unsee.

‘That boy knows no one was calling him Lake. When I heard Lake, my brain went straight to Ricki Lake,’ one laughed on X.

Another cringed: ‘I can’t believe I loved this s**t when I was a kid.’

Super Bowl selfie

Justin’s Super Bowl halftime show in 2018 wasn’t terrible but it also probably didn’t have the swag of his earlier performances. There were several awkward moments from his random tribute to Prince to the forced selfie with a young fan.

During the latter scene, Justin stepped into the audience to sing the closing number Can’t Stop The Feeling, and stopped beside a young boy who had his phone out. The youngster seemed happy to just sing along to himself but Justin prodded the youngster to take a selfie of them together, making for a very forced wholesome moment.

The Blaccent

This is more of a recent reveal but it’s now iconic nonetheless.

In her book, Britney recalled a toe-curling moment when she and Justin bumped into R&B singer Ginuwine at some point in the 2000s.

She wrote how Justin put on a ‘blaccent’ and spoke in AAVE (African American Vernacular English) because of course he was so down with the cool kids.

‘J got all excited and said, so loud, “Oh yeah, fo shiz, fo shiz! Ginuwiiiiiine! What’s up, homie?”’ Britney claimed.

Even better, Britney’s retelling of the moment was narrated by actress Michelle Williams who did a hilariously brilliant job of impersonating Justin.

So basically, to sum up everyone’s current feelings, an X user wrote: ‘Really? Everyone only just found out that Justin Timberlake was always cringe personified? Ffs. Better late than never I suppose.’
