Ronda Rousey made a surprise appearance at a burlesque wrestling show this week in her first match since leaving WWE.

The UFC legend, who hasn’t been seen much at all since losing to Shayna Baszler at SummerSlam in August, made her return to the pro wrestling world at the Lucha VaVOOM event in Los Angeles.

The Baddest Woman On The Planet had been sat on the front row for the show at the Mayan Theatre on Thursday night before getting involved in the action.

She ended up teaming with AEW star – and real life friend – Marina Shafir to take on the duo of Taya Valkyrie and Brian Kendrick, with the two pals emerging victorious.

It was brief five minute match which ended as Ronda beat Kendrick by submission, and it was significant as it marked her first ever professional wrestling match away from WWE.

Following the show, Ronda took to Instagram to reflect on the night with a message for her critics.

‘[Lucha VaVOOM] was honestly the best lucha/burlesque hybrid show I’ve ever had the pleasure of jumping into unannounced,’ she teased.

‘Anyone who doubted me and Marina Shafir could make magic in the ring is an idiot – thank you Taya Valkyrie and Brian Kendrick for being down to get down with us.’

The company has teased something special for the first night of its Halloween themed double header, posting: ‘Let’s just say this very simply for the record. We can’t tell you who it is.

‘But if you miss this tonight, you’ll be kicking yourself tomorrow. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. Seriously.’

And there could be more on the horizon for Ronda, as she shared Wrestling REVOLVER’s announcement for the company’s first California event.

The promotion – which is run by former IMPACT Wrestling star Sami Callihan – will be at the Homenetmen Glendale Ararat in LA on November 16.
