Someone has managed to get a PS5 Slim early and has shown how much thinner and smaller it is than the original model.

Sony still hasn’t shared a specific launch date for its new, slimmer PlayStation 5 model, colloquially referred to as the PS5 Slim. The plan is to have it out later this month, with one reliable rumour claiming it’ll arrive in the US on November 10.

Yet somehow, someone has managed to get their hands on one earlier than expected and, unsurprisingly, felt the need to share photos of their purchase online.

In addition, they’ve provided the first real comparison shots with the original PlayStation 5 to demonstrate how much smaller the newer model is.

The source of the photos is Twitter user BrΔndon, although they’ve since deleted all trace of said photos from their account.

This being the Internet means several people downloaded the photos before that and have reposted them for posterity’s sake.

While Sony already described the PS5 Slim as being much lighter than the original model, these photos highlight how much more compact it is. At least compared to its chunkier older sibling.

Aside from being thinner, it’s a tad shorter as well, but there’s still plenty of room for all the ports at the back. That said, they have been reorganised slightly; the HDMI port for instance is no longer right next to the power connector.

One of the deleted photos also corroborates the rumour that the detachable disc drive Sony will be selling separately requires an Internet connection, with a photo showing the PlayStation 5 telling you to connect online.

Sony hasn’t commented on this detail either, but it’s widely believed that only a one-time connection is needed and it exists as a security measure to prevent modded hardware.
