John Cena may be done with WWE after two decades in the game.

The wrestling legend turned Hollywood megastar suffered a brutal loss to rising star Solo Sikoa at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on Saturday evening as he was attacked with several of his opponent’s signature Samoan Spike move.

After his loss, veteran commentator Michael Cole referred to Sikoa as ‘the man who retired John Cena’, dropping a heavy hint that his in-ring career may indeed be over.

The shock result came after a dominating performance from The Bloodline’s enforcer, who withstood spirited comeback attempts from Cena before laying him out.

After hitting him with the Samoan Spike – where he drives his taped thumb into an opponent’s throat – he delivered more to a limp Cena, before finally pinning him.

Cole told viewers: ‘Now will Solo Sikoa’s record show that he was the one who retired John Cena.’

It’s unclear if the 16-time world champion’s wrestling future is being used as a storyline, or if he has indeed decided to hang up his boots for good.

If Cena is really done, it means an end to a stellar 21 year career for a man hailed as the greatest all time for the longevity and incredible body of work.

Although he’s moved into the movie world in recent time, he still kept up his record of wrestling a match every year since his 2002 debut, and this recent match came amid a relatively lengthy return amid the Hollywood strikes.

Cena had recently suggested he wasn’t going to be calling it a day, but he insisted he have a dream scenario for his farewell.

‘There are a lot of different perspectives. Anyone else sitting here would probably craft a scenario where, “Oh, in my mind, the perfect thing is to do this, at this event, with this individual,”‘ Cena told WWE’s After The Bell.

‘I just want to do what’s best for WWE. That has been my order of operations since I walked in this building. It hasn’t changed. It’s my way of thinking, but it’s done me pretty well.’
