Rarely does a TV series get such rave reviews that it is compared to the works of Hollywood directors but the BBC’s brand new show has blown away viewers.

Boat Story is a dark comedy and thriller in which two strangers find a hoard of drugs washed up in a boat while out walking their dogs.

The show has been an instant hit with viewers, receiving rave reviews after the first episode aired on BBC 1 on Sunday night, with the whole series landing in full on iPlayer.

Some fans binge-watched the show, comparing it to the work of director Quentin Tarantino and other silver screen heavyweights.

The series comes from Harry and Jack Williams, the brothers behind The Missing and its spin-off Baptiste as well as hit drama The Tourist.

One viewer wrote on X (formerly Twitter): ‘BoatStory is the best drama BBC have made since well, forever. I’ve just finished the series on iPlayer and I’m floored.
