Strictly star celebrates officially becoming a British citizen-Emily Bashforth-Entertainment – Metro

It’s a huge day for Strictly Come Dancing professional Luba Mushtuk, as she’s officially a British citizen!

The dance star, 34, hails from Russia and was born in Saint Petersburg.

Having joined the Strictly family in 2018, Luba has become a real favourite among fans, with her celebrity partners including James Cracknell and Jake Wood for a Christmas special.

And now her British citizenship has been confirmed, she’s keen to celebrate.

Taking to social media, Luba posed for photos inside Camden Town Hall, smiling proudly as she held her certificate.

The choreographer looked chic and stunning, wearing an all-black outfit and styling her blonde locks in a sleek bob.

Her caption read: ‘She is a British Citizen 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 Special 🫶🏼’

Luba was inundated with messages of support and congratulations from her fellow Strictly cast members.

‘Congratulations!!! ❤️ yay!’, commented Venezuelan-American dancer Karen Hauer.

Jowita Przystał, from Poland, wrote: ‘Congratulations 👏🏻😘’

Lauren Oakley wrote: ‘Yayayayayyyyy!!! 👏👏👏👏’, while Shirley Ballas said: ‘Huge congratulations ❤️’

‘Congrats! Delighted to have you !’, echoed TV presenter Lorraine Kelly.

The likes of Amanda Abbington – who shockingly quit Strictly earlier this series – Fleur East, Zara McDermott, and Graziano Di Primi also showered her with love.

Luba was paired with Waterloo Road actor Adam Thomas for the 2023 series of Strictly, after not having had a celeb partner since series 18 when she danced with Jason Bell.

Sadly, Luba and Adam, 35, were the sixth couple to be eliminated after losing the fifth dance-off to Angela Rippon and Kai Widdrington.

Speaking previously to, Luba was full of praise for Adam and how he had progressed during the competition.

Adam was also super excited to take Luba the furthest she had ever got in the show, having previously been eliminated early doors.

‘I truly believe that I will never have a better partner than him because he has so much on his plate but, at the same time, he always gives 100% and trusts me 100%, which is the most important part in this relationship.

‘He’s just an incredible human being and I am very, very honoured to be with him on his journey.’

Luba added that her and Adam would ‘take on board’ both ‘positive and negative’ feedback from the judges, even if viewers believed their comments to be harsh.

‘We work on them and hopefully, we fix all the negative comments.’

Meanwhile, Adam praised partner Luba for helping him manage his arthritis, which meant training was more difficult for him.

‘Before this, I wasn’t really active because I was in so much pain, but I haven’t got any excuses now! I’ve gotta get up and dance,’ he joked.

‘There are good days and bad days, with arthritis, you just never know when the flare-ups will happen, but we’re getting through it.’

Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday and Sunday on BBC One and iPlayer.
