KIIS FM presenter Jackie ‘O’ Henderson was rushed to hospital yesterday after suffering worrying symptoms live on air.
The popular Australian presenter – best-known as Jackie O – was on air with co-host Kyle Sandilands all set to interview television presenter Angela Bishop, when the 48-year-old began to feel unwell.
The Kyle & Jackie O Show is Australia’s biggest radio show, and they’ve been co-hosting together for 20 years.
The pair called the radio show’s medical expert Sam Hay, also known as DR KIIS, to ask if Jackie was experiencing heart attack symptoms.
Kyle later revealed how Jackie left the show to visit hospital as a result of her symptoms.
Explaining her symptoms to DR KIIS, Jackie revealed she had ‘shooting pains’ down her left arm and ‘chest pain’.
‘Heart attack, right Dr?’ asked Kyle, to which the health expert responded by asking Jackie whether she felt faint or short of breath.

Although she didn’t feel short of breath, Jackie explained how she felt nauseous, and the pain in her chest and arms was ‘dull’ rather than sharp.
‘It’s dull starting at the top of the shoulder and running more down towards the elbow,’ she said, before asking for a quick diagnosis, seemingly quite worried.
‘I can’t see. I don’t have the crystal ball,’ he responded, before explaining that with the symptoms, if they didn’t settle within a few minutes, Jackie should consider visiting hospital to get checked out.
Earlier in the show, Jackie revealed that she had visited a gynaecologist the day before, where a doctor had removed a growth from her uterus.
It was a uterine polyp, and Jackie explained on the show how she had the operation to make her periods more regular. She also explained how being under general anesthetic meant she was lacking in sleep.
Adding more drama to a particularly explosive morning, TV personality John Laws – who was set to be interviewed on the show – hung up moments before he was to appear on air after Jackie shared her surgery story, as he took exception to ‘the way’ she talked about the operation.
Heart attack symptoms
According to the NHS, symptoms of a heart attack include:
Chest pain – a feeling of pressure, heaviness, tightness or squeezing across your chest
Pain in other parts of the body – it can feel as if the pain is spreading from your chest to your arms (usually the left arm, but it can affect both arms), jaw, neck, back and tummy
Feeling lightheaded or dizzy
Sweating
Shortness of breath
Feeling sick (nausea) or being sick (vomiting)
An overwhelming feeling of anxiety (similar to a panic attack)
Coughing or wheezing
Some people may only experience minor pain, similar to indigestion
Some people may have other symptoms such as shortness of breath, feeling or being sick and back or jaw pain without any chest pain
Thankfully, Jackie seems to be okay and was treated for an infection (Picture: kyleandjackieo/Instagram)
Later in the show, announcing Jackie’s departure to the hospital following the symptoms, Kyle explained how she was lacking sleep and attempted to fuel herself with Red Bulls that morning after the operation, according to The Mail.
Thankfully, KISS FM updated concerned fans with a statement on their Instagram, revealing Jackie is ‘okay’ and was being treated for an ‘infection’.
They wrote: ‘To our loyal listeners, thank you for your kind messages and concerns. Jackie is okay.
‘After a series of tests, Jackie has been treated for an infection and was released from hospital this afternoon. She is resting up at home and will be back on air tomorrow morning from 6.
‘Thank you to all the wonderful staff at Royal North Short Hospital.’
