Ozzy Osbourne has revealed he had a tumour removed from his spine.

The Black Sabbath legend, 74, has undergone multiple operations in recent years, since exacerbating an existing back injury with a 2019 fall.

In recent years he has been pictured using a wheelchair and receiving help from others to walk, and recently declared he would be having no more surgeries on his neck and back as he ‘can’t do it anymore’.

Ozzy has now revealed that during his last surgery, doctors found a tumour.

He explained that the second surgery he underwent for his spine, after a fall dislodged metal rods that had been placed there previously, had gone ‘drastically wrong’.

The surgery ‘virtually left me crippled,’ he said, adding to Rolling Stone UK that he had assumed he would be ‘up and running’ after his second and third surgery.

And at his last surgery, his fourth, ‘they found a tumour in one of the vertebrae, so they had to dig all that out too.’

The rocker admitted it’s been ‘rough’ and his balance has been affected – and it could spell the end of his live performances as he wouldn’t consider performing a live show from a wheelchair.

‘I’m taking it one day at a time, and if I can perform again, I will,’ he said, but he wouldn’t ‘do a half-hearted Ozzy looking for sympathy.’

‘I’m not going up there in a … wheelchair. I’ve seen Phil Collins perform recently, and he’s got virtually the same problems as me. He gets up there in a wheelchair. But I couldn’t do that.’

He said he had struggled with the idea he wouldn’t be able to tour again, but as time has gone on he is beginning to ‘accept that fact.’

In 2019, Ozzy underwent surgery after suffering a fall at his home in LA which he feared at first had left him paralysed.

And earlier this year, the rocker announced that he was unable to go on tour following multiple procedures to treat his spinal injury.

He had initially put touring on pause in February following extensive spinal surgery as he is ‘not physically capable’ of the travel involved, and in July confirmed the shows would not go ahead.

Breaking the news of his cancellation, Ozzy shared a statement on Instagram that read: ‘As painful as this is, I’ve had to make the decision to bow out of performing on Power Trip in October.

‘My original plan was to return to the stage in the summer of 2024, and when the offer to do this show came in, I optimistically moved forward.

‘Unfortunately, my body is telling me that I’m just not ready yet and I am much too proud to have the first show that I do in nearly five years be half-assed.

‘The band that will be replacing me on Power Trip will be announced shortly. They are personal friends of mine and I can promise that you will not be disappointed.

‘Above all, I want to thank my fans, my band, and my crew for their unconditional loyalty and continual support.’

He signed off: ‘I love you all and I will see you soon. God Bless, Ozzy.’
