‘You look like a teenager’ elegance coach warns as she lists 4 things that make you look cheap and Dr Martens are top
AN ELEGANCE coach has revealed the four items you need to avoid this winter if you want to look stylish.
Amira Bessette, the elegance and etiquette coach, explained that not only do Dr Martens make you look like a teenager, but pom pom beanie hats need to be avoided too if you don’t want to look cheap.

The fashion pro took to social media to share the ‘things that are not elegant in winter’, leaving many open-mouthed.
She said: “Four things you should never wear in winter if you want to look elegant.”
The first item that Amira warned against were Dr Marten boots, as she expressed: “Number one – Dr Marten shoes.
“They certainly do not fit into elegant style.
“They give off more of a teenager vibe. I remember wearing them when I was 15/16.
“If you wish to look like a sophisticated lady, I would definitely go for knee boots.
“Just simple, classy, quality, leather boots.”
Next up, Amira explained that shiny jackets are not a good look if you want to look elegant, as she added: “Number two I would advise you to avoid if you want to look elegant in winter is this type of polyester shiny jackets.
“I understand that if you live in a climate where it’s minus 20/30, you don’t really have many other options.
“However, if you live in a country where it’s 0 or -2 degrees in winter, I would definitely advise you to go for a simple, well fitted long coat.
“It would be splendid if on top of that you could go for a wool or cashmere one – those fabrics would definitely keep you even warmer.”
As well as this, if you hands are cold, you’ll need to ditch woolly gloves and opt for a more stylish alternative, as Amira explained: “Number three – these types of [woolly] gloves.
“I think they look juvenile – they look good on children, not so well on a lady who wishes to elevate her style and look more sophisticated.
“I would certainly opt for suede or leather gloves. Perhaps with a teeny tiny detail.”
Finally, Amira shared her thoughts on tacky hats, as she concluded: “And the last thing but definitely not the least are the beanies with a pom pom or lots of details.
“They also do not appear very classy.
“Instead, I would opt for fake fur bands or a beret, or if you like beanies, I would simply go for a plain, cashmere one.”
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @amira.bessette, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed a whopping 570,000 views.
But social media users were quick to take to the comments, as many disagreed with Amira’s claim that Dr Martens aren’t classy.
