TV star, 59, rushed to hospital after bike accident-Meghna Amin-Entertainment – Metro

Absolutely Fabulous actress Jane Horrocks has suffered an accident after falling off her bike, and was rushed to A&E.

The Bubble and Katy Grin actress, 59, revealed the incident occurred due to black ice, and warned others to be careful.

She wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter: ‘Just fallen off my bike on black ice in Brighton. In A+E now. It’s crazy busy.

‘I haven’t experienced A+E for a very long time and it’s an eye opener. Be careful cyclists out there.’

She later thanked two strangers for their help after the accident, and to the nurse who put her arm in a plaster cast when other medical professionals had gone home.

Jane wrote: ‘A lovely couple helped me when I fell. They got me a cup of tea and brought me home.

‘Thank you to them and the lovely Scottish nurse who put my arm in plaster when all the other ‘plasterers’ had gone home.’

After fans flooded the comments with well wishes and supportive messages, Jane added that waiting in A&E was ‘tedious’, before sharing a poignant update: ‘Maybe these accidents occur to say Slow Down. We do so little of that, that sometimes it takes something stronger to enforce rest. I’m grateful for the guidance.’

‘Ouch! Glad all is sorted and you were well looked after,’ a well-wishing fan commented, as someone else echoed: ‘So sorry to hear you had a fall. So nice people took you home. Get well.’

Jane starred in the Joanna Lumley and Jennifer Saunders BBC sitcom between 1992 and 1996, as well as holding a stage role in The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, which she reprised in 1998 for a screen adaptation, earning Golden Globe and Bafta nominations.

Elsewhere, Jane has appeared in Tesco commercials and has produced voiceovers for the likes of Chicken Run and Corpse Bride.
