Lewis Capaldi has made a surprise appearance at a charity event amid his break from music and performing.

The Scottish star, 27, announced earlier this year that he would be taking a step back from public life as he cancelled his tour plans ‘for the foreseeable future’ to focus on his mental health.

Lewis’s devastating announcement followed his performance at Glastonbury Festival, where he struggled through his set on the Pyramid Stage and fans helped him finish songs when he struggled with his Tourette’s.

After axing 24 upcoming gigs back in June, Lewis has kept a low profile, so fans were thrilled to see him rock up Clyde’s annual Cash For Kids lunch on Friday (December 8).

Ever the good samaritan, the Bruises hitmaker kindly donated a signed gold disk for the special auction.

As a result of his and other people’s generosity, over £400,000 was raised for vulnerable and disadvantaged children.

Pictures showed the songwriter posing with the donated disk alongside the lucky prize winner.

Wrapping an arm around her shoulders and with a smile on his face, Lewis donned a casual all-black outfit.

He also took to the mic to make a speech at the fundraiser.

Lewis’s outing today comes after attendees at the Rolling Stone UK Awards were left in floods of tears over sweet words about the Pointless vocalist by his good friend Roman Kemp.

Roman, 30, was on hand to present the game changer award to the Someone You Loved singer last month.

‘This award is the first of its kind and it’s going to someone who I would class as a close friend of mine, a good mate, someone who all of you in this room know probably too well, I’ll give you a little hint,’ the radio DJ began.

He continued: ‘I texted him and I said, “Gotta get this award for you, do you want any message to pass on?”, and he just said, “Get tae f**k. You do it yourself, freestyle something.” So you know it’s Lewis Capaldi, right?’

Lewis sat out of the glitzy bash as he continues with his career hiatus, which pal Roman is in full support of after previously admitting Lewis’s Glasto set was ‘hard to watch’.

‘You can see how much he tried to get through that all whilst battling with something that he was going through in his personal life,’ shared Roman.

‘That’s Tourettes. That’s something Lewis lives with every single day and is dealing with part of him, part of who he is.’

Having once been very active online and often shared hysterical videos with his TikTok followers, Lewis has been pretty inactive on social media over recent months as well.

He has, however, popped up in a few places unexpectedly, such as a The Vamps show and Wimbledon in summer.

Announcing his break from music at the start of 2023, Lewis said the sabbatical was necessary if he wants to carry on doing what he loves ‘for a long time to come.’

The beloved star wrote in part of his statement: ‘I know I’m incredibly fortunate to be able to take some time out when others can’t and I’d like to thank my amazing family, friends, team, medical professionals and all of you who’ve been so supportive every step of the way through the good times and even more so during this past year when I’ve needed it more than ever.’

Concluding his heartfelt message, Lewis said: ‘I’m so incredibly sorry to everyone who had planned to come to a show before the end of the year but I need to feel well to perform at the standard you all deserve.

‘Playing for you every night is all I’ve ever dreamed of so this has been the most difficult decision of my life. I’ll be back as soon as I possibly can. All my love, always, Lewis x.’
