Sunday with Laura Kuenssberg saw BBC Breakfast’s Susanna Reid steal the show as she brutally took down Baroness Michelle Mone over the Covid PPE contracts.

Susanna, 53, was asked about her thoughts on the scandal and her eloquent criticism of the ‘profiteering’ impressed viewers in comparison to Laura’s interviewing which some felt was lacklustre.

‘I find it absolutely remarkable and why she hasn’t been transparent until this point,’ began the newscaster about the former Conservative peer.

Baroness Mone admitted she benefitted from the contracts which yielded around £60 million in profit through being a beneficiary of financial trusts where the money is held.

The 52-year-old had previously denied she gained anything personally from the PPE contracts handed out during the pandemic but still did not see an issue with her monetary gain.

After watching Laura, 47, interview Michelle, Susanna said: ‘She’s thinks she’s the victim because of the press intrusion.’

She continued: ‘It’s utterly remarkable that she doesn’t see how sensitive this issue is. PPE was so desperately needed that business people thought they could make tens of millions of pounds out of that desperation.’

Viewers felt Susanna’s analysis of the situation made her much more suited to lead the Sunday morning show.

‘Susanna should just claim Laura’s job she’d do much better,’ shared Dillon on X – formerly Twitter.

Another viewer, going by Friday’s Child on the social platform, added: ‘Thank you @susannareid100 Wish you’d done the interview instead.’

Luna agreed: ‘Susanna Reid is boss and should have interviewed Michelle Mone.’

‘Should’ve had both Laura and Susanna Reid asking questions. Bet I can guess who’d have given that plastic faced thief Mone a tougher time,’ concluded Malc.

The former Strictly contestant’s thoughts resonated with those watching, many of whom felt Laura went too easy during the interview which saw Michelle and husband Michael Mone failing to take accountability.

Sundays with Laura Kuenssberg airs every Sunday at 9am on BBC One.
