‘Comfortable and no embarrassing leaks’ M&S shoppers rave about £16 period pants which mean they can ditch tampons

And not only are they great for the environment, they’re great for your bank account as they’ll cut the cost of buying tampons or pads every cycle.

Period pants have been gaining traction in recent years as an eco-friendly alternative to pads and tampons.
Now, M&S has blessed customers with a 22-product strong collection.
Mostly in packs of three, you can purchase briefs, high-leg knickers, shorts, bikini knickers and even thongs designed to mimic a sanitary pad.
A three-pack of Light Absorbency Period Thongs will set you back £14 and “offer discreet and comfortable protection for lighter-flow days”.
The average price of the other knicker variations is £16 for a three-pack, and you can pick the different styles up in a range of colours, such as black, pink, nude and grey.
M&S’ Heavy Absorbency Period Full Briefs have received particularly rave reviews, with shoppers praising how leakproof each pair is.
“These briefs are excellent,” one buyer said.
“They are great to wear and give you confidence that you’ll not get any embarrassing leaks.”
For £17.50 with a lacy finish, the Heavy Absorbency Period Full Briefs were hailed a “God send” by one woman.
“These work splendidly and remove the need for a frequent change of pads,” another reviewed.
M&S bosses assured that its period pants “have a clever three-layer gusset that keeps you dry and comfortable, and features anti-odour technology”.
It took over 20 years of campaigning by women’s rights activists for the UK government to abolish the so-called “Tampon Tax”.
And thanks to M&S and period underwear brand Wuka campaigning to #SayPantsToTheTax, period pants will no longer be taxed by the UK government.
The new legislation came into effect in the new year.
Before this, they were classified as a garment and taxed at 20%.
