Singer James Morrison is believed to have cancelled all work commitments and new music plans in the wake of his partner Gill Catchpole’s shock death.

Catchpole, 45, was reportedly found dead at the couple’s Gloucestershire home on Friday, with a source stating that You Give Me Something singer Morrison, 39, has been left ‘devastated’.

The long-term couple share two daughters, 15-year-old Elsie and Ada, five, and had first met years ago when Catchpole moved into Morrison’s mother’s house as a lodger with her then-boyfriend, John.

It’s said Catchpole’s death isn’t being treated as suspicious and that Morrison is being supported by family through his grief, according to The Sun.

On Thursday, Morrison had shared a picture of himself sitting in a recording studio while playing a guitar, with a computer monitor showing tracks being laid down.

He captioned the Instagram post ‘New year, new adventure…,’ seemingly teasing that new music was on the way in 2024.

However, a source has now told the publication that Morrison has since shelved all work commitments.

A pal said that he is focusing on caring for his two daughters instead.

The Broken Strings hitmaker last released new music with his fifth studio album in 2019, You’re Stronger Than You Know.

He dedicated the record to Catchpole after Ada was born 13 weeks premature and weighing just 1lb 11oz.

Speaking to The Mirror at the time, he described Catchpole as his ‘hero’ after everything she endured to welcome their daughters into the world.

‘When we got back to the ward I let all my emotion out. Gill was my hero,’ he said.

‘I’m still so in awe of how she got through it. She’s my rock. I’ve known her since I was playing open mic bars and was a van cleaner. I could never replace her.’

Catchpole reportedly owned local café, the Cotswold Sandwich Box, and it was closed on Saturday with police cars seen outside.

A source told The Sun that ‘the whole village is in complete shock at what has happened. Gill was a lovely woman and they were a beautiful family’.

‘He is holding it together for their girls but has asked for the family to be left alone to grieve in private,’ the insider added.

A Gloucestershire police spokesperson told Metro.co.uk: ‘Police were called to Whitminster in Gloucester at around 9.10am on Friday (5 January) following concerns for the welfare of a resident.

‘Officers attended and the body of a woman in her 40s was found within an address.

‘The death is being treated as non-suspicious at this time. The coroners and woman’s next of kin have been informed.’

It has since emerged that Catchpole had shared a post in a local Facebook group asking for help with finding a rental property just days before she died.

A message from her Facebook account on Thursday read: ‘Looking for a house to rent in Whitminster ASAP. Please contact me if anyone knows or hears of anything. TIA [thank you in advance].’

Catchpole’s relationship status on the social media site was set to ‘single’ before her death. She was also pictured without her wedding ring on the same account in photos taken last summer.

Metro.co.uk has contacted a rep for James Morrison for comment.
