Strictly star takes action as BBC reaches decision on Giovanni Pernice-Josie Copson-Entertainment – Metro

BBC have reportedly decided on Giovanni Pernice’s future after Amanda Abbington ‘allegations’ (Picture: PA)

Amanda Abbington has changed her social media settings after she allegedly sought legal advice about her experience on Strictly Come Dancing with Giovanni Pernice.

If you have a public Instagram account then often anybody can like and comment on your posts. However, Amanda, 51, or the person who runs the account, has decided to adjust her preferences. Now, a message appears that reads: ‘Comments on this profile have been limited’ when clicking the speech bubble icon. This could mean a select amount of people can comment or it’s only those accounts who she follows back.

At present, the majority of Instagram users are unable to type anything underneath Amanda’s social media posts. This should mean that the section is filled with support from people she knows, and she doesn’t need to see criticism from those whom she doesn’t, which could include Giovanni fans.

This choice comes after recent claims that she’s requested footage of her training sessions with Giovanni, 33 on the BBC series.

A source told The Sun: ‘The BBC have received a request for the footage they hold of Amanda and Giovanni. It is known as a data subject access request.

‘There is a feeling that the recordings will lift the lid on what really goes on behind the scenes on Strictly. Things in rehearsals can become very tense.’

They claimed that the actress was ‘really stressed by having to spend eight hours a day with Giovanni’, and ‘spent a lot of time crying’.

Giovanni has since been assured of his place on the prime time show, it has now been claimed by the publication.

A phone call allegedly took place between Giovanni’s management and Strictly executives to discuss the ongoing reports and to check he was doing well.

An insider remarked ‘there are two sides to every story’.

‘The feeling is he is a tough taskmaster, but hasn’t bullied or abused anyone.

‘The BBC see him as a key face of Strictly and will do all they can to support him,’ the insider concluded.

Amanda decided to leave the programme after just four performances, and cited ‘personal reasons’.

In the Instagram post announcing her exit, she didn’t directly thank Giovanni but did mention her fellow contestants and the ‘incredible’ production team.

Metro.co.uk contacted BBC and Giovanni’s reps for comment.

Metro.co.uk previously contacted Amanda’s reps.
