In his recently released autobiography, Karma, the singer detailed attempts to form a connection with Janet, 57, over the years.
After Boy George shared he’d purchased an armful of her records and was a fan, the two met in the 1980s on the variety show Solid Gold.
‘When it comes to me and Janet, let’s wait a while,’ he wrote, then going on to explain how he approached her ‘without my face on’.
‘She wasn’t friendly and didn’t try to be. But I just walked off and got myself into my best “Boy George” and was walking around backstage to make sure I was seen by everyone,’ he continued, as reported by People.

When one of her crew approached him with a video camera, asking for him to record a message for Janet, he recalled saying: ‘Next time you meet someone, be nice.’
Later, he was ushered to her dressing room, but she still didn’t recognise him.
He went on to speculate if she would have been nicer if she knew who he was, adding they ‘parted on awkward terms’.
The next time they saw each other, on Top of the Pops a few years later, he said she ‘looked straight through me’.

Speaking to the publication the performer said that was all he wanted to share on the matter.
‘When you write a book like this, there’s a chance you’re going to bump into someone that you’ve written about. I have to say what I’ve written about people is the truth of what happened and how they behaved,’ he explained.
‘So, I’m kind of comfortable with that.
‘I’m always someone who’s prepared to bury the hatchet because there’s always another opportunity to be different.’
But he added: ‘At this point, there’s certain people I’m never gonna be friends with unless a miracle happens — and I guess I put her in that category.
The performer also said Tina Turner ‘wasn’t nice’ to him (Picture: Dave Hogan/Getty Images)
In the interview he also took aim at Tina Turner, saying ‘she wasn’t nice to me, which was a shame’, but didn’t address any sort of run-in throughout his memoir.
However, he did explain it happened in a ‘tiny’ dressing room after an Elton John gig, during which he was introduced to Tina by the Rocketman musician but she ‘turned her back’.
While he went on to leave the room upset and still wonders if him coming off drugs was something she ‘disapproved’ of, he did say he was ‘the biggest Tina Turner fan on the planet…I mean, I forgave her and I loved her’.
The singer did say he did also recognise that he also had to remember that ‘perhaps there’s been times in your [his] life when you weren’t friendly to everyone you met’.
