I made $130k reselling Goodwill buys last year, people say I’m ‘the reason thrift stores jack up prices’

A FRUGAL woman has revealed how she turned second-hand shops into a six figure income opportunity.

She said she made a total of $130k last year, but not everyone is happy for her feat, saying she’s increasing the prices at thrift stores.

Jennifer (@jlynnfarmer) filmed her finds in a Reel posted to Instagram.

She revealed that she used reselling websites like Poshmark, eBay, and Depop to make a total of $130k from clothing purchased from Goodwill.

Some finds included designer items selling as low at $1 at the thrift store.

“Look, I’m not showing this to brag,” she said.

“I’m showing you these numbers to let you know it is possible to make money reselling items from the thrift.

“And before you come for me — yes those are my total sales numbers however my margins are thick since all my items are thrifted.

“I didn’t get lucky, I don’t walk into racks of designer items, I can find stuff anywhere I go.

“I’ve been doing this for more than a decade and I have developed a good eye,” she added.

The Reel drew in many viewers who weighed in on the savvy shopping.

“You are the reason why thrift stores jacked up prices and now people who really are poor and can’t afford new clothes are no longer able to shop at Goodwill,” one wrote.

“I hate this. Thrift stores were a fun hobby since I was a teenager, so different now because of resellers. I’m not a hater. Get it I guess, but Goodwill prices have skyrocketed and it’s just not what it used to be,” another added.

“So that’s why prices are sky high at the thrift stores. No one wants to drop off items for the less fortunate anymore as others have turned it into a business,” said a third.

“Good for you for making a ton of money I guess, but bad for those who don’t have money and are looking for deals.”

Others supported Jennifer in her thrifty side hustle flipping secondhand goods.

“Amazing. I’ve been wanting to do something like this just don’t know where or how to start. For sure I’m going to follow you for advice and tips. Thanks,” one wrote.
