Ubisoft is finally releasing a new Prince Of Persia game, as we explore when it’s out, what the story is, and what’s in the special edition.

The year is kicking off with the first new Prince Of Persia adventure in a very long time. And although you won’t be able to play as the prince this time around, it looks like it’s going to be a good game.

Director of The Lost Crown, Mounir Radi, has already opened up to GameCentral about the challenges of making a big budget 2D game… but what about everything else?

We’ll go through the release date, which platforms you can play it on, the story, and what’s going on with The Sands Of Time remake.

When is Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown coming out?

Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown will launch on Thursday, January 18.

It’ll be the first major instalment in the prince’s long-running series since 2010’s Prince Of Persia: The Forgotten Sands.

You can play The Lost Crown on every current format, as it’s due to launch on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC.

How much does Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown cost?

The Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown is already available for pre-order on all platforms, and will cost £44.99

There’s also a Deluxe Edition for only £5 extra, at £49.99, which lets you play the game three days early, gets you an Immortal outfit for your character, and includes the Prosperity Bird Amulet and a Digital Adventure Guide for Mount Qaf.

What is The Lost Crown about?

Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown is a single-player 2D action adventure platformer and essentially a Metroidvania. That’s quite different to the previous games, even the 2D ones, although visually there are some similiarties.

You’re not playing as the prince, but as the newly introduced Sargon, who travels to the cursed city of Mount Qaf to rescue Prince Ghassan himself.

Is there a demo for Prince Of Persia: The Lost Crown?

Yes, a demo will be available from 5pm GMT on Thursday, January 11 for all formats. That should give you a chance to see what the game is all about and how it differs from previous Prince Of Persia games.

Or, if you’re brand new to the series, you be assured that you don’t need any previous knowledge to enjoy the new game.

When is the Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time remake coming out?

We were actually suppose to get another Prince Of Persia game long before The Lost Crown.

A remake of 2003 classic The Sands Of Time has been planned for years now and was supposed to come out as long ago as 2020.

The latest update on the remake comes from a tweet from the developer back in November, which said: ‘we are glad to announce today that the project has passed an important internal milestone and development is progressing.’

Who knows what that really means but it has no release date and there’s no guarantee it’s out this year.
